Is it a tool or art? Maybe both. This makes me want to slice more vegetables.

What I like:→ From the boxed presentation to the knife itself, this product is like owning a piece of art. The metal is so well styled and the handle so artistically designed that it almost makes you wonder if you should use it or hang it up and frame it→ When I finally finished admiring the beauty of this piece, I actually started using it and was so impressed with the feel and balance of it in my hand; even though it is a larger knife, it feels like an extension of your own hand→ The sharpness of this blade right out of the box is incredibily impressive, paper thin slices (if you have the skill) with an even motion and a nice rock from the front rounded edge make it a fun way to prep your stir fry!What I don't like:→ My only critique (and I feel bad even mentioning because this knife is so gorgeous) is that the design does make it a little loose on a magnetic knife holder. The knife comes with a beautiful wood holder which is how it's designed to be stored, but because I use a magnetic holder, I like to keep it with my other knives. The rounded design, which makes it wonderful for slicing and gives it a nice feel in your hands, means that it doesn't lie completely flat on a magnet bar. If you store this way, be careful when you place it to make it as flat as possibleWhat you really need to know:→ You don't have to be a chef to love this knife, it is gorgeous and wonderful to hold. Perfect for Briskets, Tri-Tips, and BBQ Meat

I’m not a chef but I wanted a real knife with slicing power and a sharp blade for serving my smoked brisket and bbq meats. This knife glides through brisket with ease and makes keeping your portions uniform in size a breeze. The handle is amazing quality and the Damascus Steel finish just adds that extra wow factor for serving. I’ve used this knife multiple times for the holiday season and it turns heads at that BBQ. I keep it in the original case and box after I wash it to make sure it stays in good condition but this knife is professional and worth the price. The blades edge is so thin but has a gradual increase in thickness that allows you to cut through meat and vegetables like a pro. I’m so happy to have this tool in my kit for cooking and couldn’t imagine not having it now.

My current favorite nakiri knife, very sharp and comfortable to hold, blade cover doesn’t fit

Other than my chef’s knife, my other favorite knife is a nakiri. I find it the easiest for slicing or chopping vegetables, something I do almost daily. The shape lends itself easily to these tasks, almost like a miniature version of a Japanese cleaver. It arrived very sharp and able to slice through a single sheet of paper with ease. I’m not finding the granton edge to actually help food to slide off easier, but I have multiple knives, mostly santoku, with the same edge and I never feel like it’s helpful. Looks nice, as does the beautiful Damascus blade. It has an incredibly narrow spine, which would normally end up hurting my hand while using, but I’m not getting that issue this time, which is surprising. The handle is quite comfortable whether you use it for your full grip or use a pinch grip. I’m also not usually a big fan of rivets in handles as they tend to be either a weak point or a place to hold onto food that you can’t ever get out, but these are completely flush. If you run your finger over them with your eyes closed, you wouldn’t know the difference between the handle and the rivets, they’re that smooth. I’m really not expecting any issues with anything on the knife. It’s really just a beautiful and functional tool for the kitchen. The only reason I took off 1 star is because of the blade cover. You’re lucky to get a 3-sided piece of cardboard with a knife, so a full cover was fantastic. Except, it doesn’t fit. It’s not long enough to cover the whole blade. Disappointing. This should either be fixed or just don’t include one. Regardless, this knife is easily worth the $99, and I would highly recommend it!

Im enjoying the knife...until....

...the wood starts cracking. The knife itself is sharp and durable. Great blade. It's just the handle doesn't meet the standard of the blade. The wood is cracking due to washing and it's not as comfortable in the hand as it was when I first started using it.
