Due to COVID-19, we have been sanitizing all exterior packaging of groceries before bringing them into the house. It is hard to wipe every little corner of the plastic bag the bread comes in. Now it is easy, we transfer the bread into this container and the plastic bag never comes inside our home. The box keeps bread fresh as long as the original bag. The lid just "sits" on the top so it is not as airtight as a snap on lid.
Purchased two of these bread boxes as a gift for my parents since they bake bread all the time. They are very happy with this box and impressed with how well it keeps the bread they bake fresh. The box itself is a hard plastic that easily closes with a snap. It fits any size loaf of bread inside which is great! Very easy to clean and to store away when not in use.The box is clear so you can see your bread instead of opening it up. My parents told me it keeps their bread fresh for a week. Also, it does not make the bread soft. When making a crispy crust it keeps the bread perfectly fine without loosing the crust. Both my parents like this bread box and are very happy with it. This is an item I would recommend to others for sure.As a side note my parents have birds that love bread! When my parents are looking they fly to the kitchen to get a nibble on any bread that may be on the counter. If the bread is in a bag they destroy it to get the bread. Now with the bread box, the birds can't get the bread and have not damaged the bread box. My parents feed them bread but at least now they won't make a mess like they did in the past. So if you have animals that like to eat your bread that is on the counter, this is a good way to store it without pieces missing from the loaf.
A large loaf of bread barely fits inside. It's a very close fit lengthwise and width-wise. Would fit better if I took the bread out of the plastic wrapper, but the lid isn't airtight, so I don't. The lid doesn't snap in. It just sits in. The plastic is lightweight and not as sturdy as I hoped, but it does the job. I would recommend it because it does what it was created to do. However, I would prefer one that is wider, longer, made with thicker and sturdier material, and has an airtight lid closure.
I got this to keep my hound dogs out of my den as they find my whole grain bread no matter where I try to hide it and they'll do anything to get to it while I'm at work . I was hoping for something to seal my bread so they wouldn't so easily find it and I not have to keep it in the fridge . The lid just sits on top and I can still smell the bread when it's not in the wrapper . The Walker just knocked the lid off , pulled it off the top of the player piano and she and the Beagle ravaged another loaf of bread .It's so loosely sealed I must keep it in the wrapper , dogs or not , so it won't dry out . I believe this gadget would work fine of I kept my bread in the kitchen but I keep it in my den because I'm fixing my lunch at oh dark thirty and don't want to wake the rest of the house .Oh well , back to keeping my bread in my mini fridge along with everything else I use to make lunches .
This is used to protect our bread from our cat. Our cat will climb up high to get to the bread and eat it. We leave the bread in the bag it came in. It is NOT airtight, but it is suitable for us. Great product.
This bread storage box came shattered. It was sent in a plastic bag with no packing. I paid $15. for it. I've had a similar one for years and it's still in perfect condition. This one is made from the most thin and brittle plastic ever.
Our beloved cat likes to cause trouble at night by jumping onto the kitchen counter and shredding the bread bag, and then helping herself to a little bread crust while she's at it. Bad kitty! This bread box has completely solved that problem.However, for larger loaves this container is a bit too small. For example, we commonly buy Sara Lee brand Artesano Bread, which has loaves that are a bit wider than loaves of Wonder Bread (or whatever).The simple solution is to place the bread sideways within this container. That works great since the container is taller than needed. It just looks a bit odd, since you can see the loaf on its side though the transparent plastic. But at least it's safe from cats! (Or any other critters that might want to help themselves to some bread at night, like mice.)
