Practical for family dining
This 52 x 70 Horaldaily cloth fits my 3’ x 5’ table with a drape of 6” on the ends and 8” on sides. I find it practical and attractive. I ordered it in the taupe which is a mix of silver warp thread and dark purple-brown weft. The golden crosses are over stitched both ways. It’s a practical cloth in the darker color with grandchildren sharing the table. I poured 1/4 cup of water on it - we do get spills - to see if it would stain or repel. Nope, neither. Water went immediately through with the loose weave, but dried with no visible stain. While practical, it’s also attractive. Until I looked closely at the fabric, I thought the silver thread to finish the seams was an unusual choice. The silver warp does give it a nice sheen and subtle texture. With the looser texture, I did inspect it for raw edges where the fabric was not finished as those would ravel easily. Mine didn’t have any major flaws; it did have a minor spot where the bobbin thread got caught on the reverse side, but that’s an easy fix and not a concern. The cloth has simple rolled seams which is sufficient. This fabric would not be easy to tailor because of the finish and weave. I could see on the reverse how it moves under the pressure foot when stitching the rolled seams, so I’m happy to have four square corners. Also, the pattern is forgiving; while the crosses are not totally parallel along the edges, they’re not noticeably skewed. The one negative comment I have is that the cloth comes so tightly vacuum sealed, it feels like a board, and when you open the packaging to free the cloth, the creases will take time to work out. Possibly, a wash cycle will solve the problem, but kids will ensure that this goes in the wash soon enough. Because it’s 100% poly, it doesn’t have the hand of a soft cotton; feels somewhat, not in a bad way, rough to the touch. That also makes it tough. Again, not bad with kids at the table. For my purposes, a solid recommendation.
