This Melted onto the oven rack and pan the first time I used it. NOT FOR HOT ITEMS. Now I have to get the silicone off my oven rack and baking pan. I also tried to lift a sauce pan 1/2 full with water, it’s not strong enough. This is only for lightweight warm items.
Handy little tool!
These hot plate grippers are a good value for the price. I got them to help take hot bowls out of my microwave. From the seller’s photos, they might also work for lifting a second bowl from a double boiler or for removing items from a steamer. After looking at the pictures and reading other reviews, I’ve decided I don’t want to risk them melting at higher oven or stovetop temperatures. For their size and material, they feel pretty sturdy. I was surprised by how much weight they can handle. They’re simple to use. Still, I think it’s smart to use a thermal glove along with them, since I don’t fully trust them with really hot food. Overall, these grippers are handy and a nice extra, but not essential. They could make a good gift for a teen, grandparent, or college student.
I like the concept and even the functionality but after 2 uses, the "silicone" pads melted when taking the glass bakeware out of the oven. The residue was melted and had to be scrapped from the glassware. It will go back!
Sometimes the littlest things in life just make you happy and this hot plate silicone gripper makes me overly happy!For a long time I'd get so irritated every time I'd grab a bowl from the microwave. Of course it was hot, but I'm impatient which led to burnt fingers and hands . I did buy a silicone mat for the microwave plate, but it was really big and food may have splashed on it from heating them it would get the outside of the bowl dirty and well you know, cleanup isn't fun.This bad boy is awesome. Every sized bowl or plate I used in the microwave this gripper held on and saved my hands and fingers. I haven't tried them on cookie sheets or baking pans so I can't speak to that. These are strictly for my microwave only! When using the oven I will only use mitts that go up to my wrists, I don't like the burnt feeling, ha!$9.99 is a great price for saving my hands! This will be used daily, I'm sure, and I feel this gripper will be durable enough to handle it.

This product surprised me by actually working! Reviews for a similar product by the same seller we're pretty terrible so I had low expectations, but this was able to easily pick up one of our heavy (though empty) dinner bowls without problem! The plastic feels a bit flimsy compared to other plastic kitchen utensils I've used in the past, which is why I'm only giving it 4 stars, but it seems like it can definitely hold some mid-weight plates and bowls of food! The silicone grips well and didn't feel like it was even close to slipping. I even shook the bowl I was holding and had no problems! Pleasantly surprised. Definitely will help avoid some burnt fingers in the future. I still don't think I'd pick up anything super special with it though.
