Ingenius Design & Completely Effective♡
This. Is. Awesome. This is truly the nicest, finest mesh infuser I've ever seen or used. This is really an impressive product, because it's designed so well. Not a single piece of herb dust will ever enter your mug because the holes are simply too small. I tested running my faucet water into it, and the water comes dribbling out from just a small part of the bottom. It's amazing because people don't even realize it's an infuser. It appears to be a fairly solid but thin metal canister. Only when you look close or hold it up to light can you see how fine the teeny holes are.I used this infuser in my big double-wall borosilicate glass mug, which holds around 17 oz. of liquid. I doubted it would fit too well. So my eyebrows flew up when I filled the infuser with herbs and inserted it into my mug of hot water. It made a Shwooop sucking noise and literally grabbed the infuser from my hand to land safely at the bottom of the mug. It was really cool. The infuser fit so well in this huge mug that there was only a bit of space between the infuser and the opening of my mug, as you can see in my pics. It's definitely a better idea to pour hot water over the infuser once it's placed in, but I often just use a microwave shortcut to heat the water in the mug.The top is made of a sturdy black silicone with two tiny holes in it. It only sits on the infuser and does not secure. I usually use these silicone cup covers over my mugs to steep my herbal tea. When I remove the black silicone top, amazingly, it's a perfect fit so that my regular cover can be used to cover the whole open top.The only part that can be slightly annoying is the cleaning part. It's not bad, but it's enough that I often fill and use my own tea bags instead. I like herbal tea a lot for health reasons, and I would get irritated scooping out all the wet herbs with tissues all the time, as often as I drink tea.The cool part is that after you infuse and steep your tea, the infuser sits perfectly on the silicone top, which faces up. This is just an excellent product with an excellent design and good materials. I think it's absolutely fantastic and absolutely worth the buy!Update: I made natural blue dye! I infused butterfly pea flowers in vegetable glycerin, then I strained the herb using this filter. Despite all the teeny pieces of herb, nothing escaped, and all I got was vivid blue herbal dye. Amazing.
