Game Changer--Ordered more than one!

I first purchased this about a year and a half ago. We were a household that just kept the stick of butter on the counter, and in the summer had to store it in the fridge to prevent melting all over the place.Functionality: Just be diligent about changing the water, but seriously, regardless of the weather or temperatures, this crock keeps butter at a spreadable consistency. We had a couple of days where the temps were close to 110 degrees Fahrenheit, and I had to put the crock in the fridge for a little bit, but that was more precautionary.Our butter is kept fresh, soft, and delicious! It's super easy to dip into with a knife and take what you need. I can wash it by hand, or in the dishwasher and there was no fading of paint/glaze or deterioration of the crock itself.Appearance: This little guy is adorable. It's subtle enough to go with just about any decor, but still has that homey, rustic touch to it. The blue is exactly as pictured, which was important to me.Roughly a month ago, our cat decided to knock things off the counters, and the outer container that holds the water was broken beyond what I could repair. The inside bell that holds the butter was completely intact.So, I am ordering this exact product for a second time, because it is well made, does what it says it will do, looks cute, and is east to use and clean. Broke my old butter bell and needed a new one. This is a nice stoneware crock, which means it will last a long time. By adding a small amount of water to the bowl it keeps bugs away. I had heard of French butter crocks but never tried one until now. This ceramic dish works well and looks good on the counter.Use and Performance: You pack softened butter into the lid, add water to the base, and flip the lid in place. The water seal keeps butter fresh while leaving it soft enough to spread. I have kept butter in it for more than a week with no spoilage. Changing the water every few days is simple.Quality and Design: The ceramic is sturdy with a nice glaze and the size fits a standard stick of butter. The lid fits well but I noticed it can feel a little heavy when lifting it out if your hands are wet or slippery. Not a big issue but worth mentioning.Cleaning: Both pieces wash clean easily and the glaze does not stain. Dishwasher safe which is convenient.Overall: This crock does what it promises and makes everyday meals a little nicer. I gave it four stars instead of five only because the lid can feel a bit bulky, but otherwise it is a solid buy if you want butter that is always soft and spreadable.
