Food Doesn't Stick
Sometimes, I get really focused on the most random things. My cooking skills have been limited to boiling noodles, crock pot soups & stews & using my air fryer/toaster oven monstrosity that my boyfriend's wonderful family gave me for Xmas a few years ago. I suddenly really wanted to learn how to make fried rice, since I found myself disappointed that many places nowdays serve bland or salty fried rice. I am not an expert chef or anything of the sort, but as an average human with taste buds, I know what good food should taste like. I had it in my head that I could make it better than them. After watching some tutorials, I realized I both wanted & needed a wok. I bought this wok because it was very affordable at the time I purchased it, also it claimed to be non-stick & seemed less intimidating than others, to a noob like me who knows nothing about cookware other than I like stuff not to stick. I have an electric stove, so this one seemed like it would do well. It arrived packed like some luxury item. I fastened the handle on it, which made me feel like such a handywoman because it was very easy & came with a little wrench to tighten the screw on end metal thingies. I followed the directions it came with & prepped the wok. I remembered to wash the rice, since angry Mulan often comes up on my social FYP. I didn't have all the ingredients so I improvised. Also buying ingredients for fried rice separately is very expensive. Anyway, this was my first attempt. It came out decent, but not unfortunately not better, I don't think I did it right, it turned out mushy & sticky, but it tasted pretty dang good IMO. My boyfriend said he liked it, but I think he also would eat a rock & say it tasted good if I gave it to him. I will keep trying though. I used this wok several times after, making stir fry, fried chick peas, noodles, & other somewhat palatable dishes. This wok was easy to wash, nothing stuck. The weird bamboo thingies it came with were kind of awkward to use, so they're just hanging on a hook in my kitchen until I figure them out. Now I need to buy some better cooking utensils. Okay that's my review.
