This was a fabulous find! None of the Kitchen Aid adapters appeared to fit the Kitchen Aid Professional HD mixer I have, but this one did perfectly. My first attempt at making ice cream (mint chocolate chip) was a resounding success...on my second attempt now. It's great if you don't want another appliance in your pantry!!!
I bought this product when it was on sale with plans to use it through the winter. I went to use it the other day and found that it had cracked and the liquid inside leaked all over. I did not drop it.
I was apprehensive when I received this. I followed the directions and made a small batch of vanilla ice cream today and was pleasantly surprised! It is definitely a soft serve texture but was delicious and easy to make. I am now researching recipes for sorbet and frozen yogurt as well. I especially love that it doesn’t add more clutter to my limited counter space. Would definitely recommend this if you have a Kitchenaid mixter.
Love making ice cream
Love making homemade ice cream so we got this for the family:Pros:-Quite easy to make. Once you have the recipe, making the ice cream is quite a breeze--just pour and turn it on. This is SOO MUCH EASIER than a traditional ice cream maker, where you need ice, salt, etc. I am very hopeful this lasts me for many years and makes many, many gallons of ice cream.-Freezer base fit perfectly in the mixer.-Made half a gallon of ice cream with about 15-25 min of mixing (you still need to freeze it after for a more solid mix).-Easy to clean and reuse.-Does its job very well and can be reused quite frequently (just wash and refreeze).Cons:-Does not come with any recipes. You have to search online for recipes. Most of these recipes are for a "cook" base, so it adds quite a lot of complication and time to the process. I wish the mixer came with a recipe book. If anything, something that would give a little more information. I have my grandfather's recipe from when he made ice cream, but it was frustrating to try to adjust the recipe for the size of the bowl. It at least does say that you can only fill with about 46 oz of ingredients to make the half gallon.-Attaching Driver Assembly does not "click" in or "lock in" in any way, not even from the beginning. You basically have to put it centered and then lower it carefully onto the base. I wish it attached in some way. It still worked, but I'm worried about the durability if it does not click together.-Price is a little steep.Overall, it makes good ice cream. There are a couple cons, but they are minimal when compared to the ease of making the ice cream.
Durable and user friendly
