My Husband Is Not Allowed To Use These
So, these are made of Teak. These cooking spoons are Mine. When I am cooking jambalaya or etouffee, I use my spoons. My food comes out perfectly uncompromised... at least by the spoons. 😉 Here's the thing: Teak isn't waterproof. It just expands and retracts in the water and is therefore ideal for things that require being in the water. Like bathrooms. It still has to be finished, though, and varnished, etc., before you can use it as a bathroom wall, and then it requires special care to keep it clean and free from mold. Think about these wooden spoons the same way. They don't have NEARLY as much finish as the teak wall because (I'm sure hoping!) you don't eat your food off a teak wall. That means you need to take care not to let them soak in ANY food or liquid. They're not exactly as porous as mushrooms in a crawfish boil, but they're still pretty porous in comparison. As far as these particular teak spoons? I LOVE them. Perfect size and variety. Really Happy!

Clear coat comes right off and it is not just an oiled surface.
Finish washed off after one use. Take a look at the pics. I think it would be safer to run these through the dishwasher to really remove the clear coat so it does not just come off on your food. Also they did not sand the pieces after they were machined about of the wood as there are rough edges in the slotted spoon. They are solid wood and not plastic so I think once you stip the coating off and sand the rough edges they will be ready to oil up with something safe, like vegetable oil, and use.

These are pretty wooden spoons. They do appear to have a coat of stain of some sort, but are nicely formed.I put mine in a cup on the counter for spooning out Hot coco or instant coffee. Proper care required
I got the 12 pack of wooden honey spoons and they were nice and smooth right out of the packaging. However, if you leave them wet, they will no longer be smooth as they do absorb water which ruins its integrity. They are wood spoon so I have had to learn how to properly care for them to preserve their quality. They should not be left in water and they should be immediately dried after use. You can also rub oil into the spoon if you have accidentally let them get wet for too long.

Nice but stained and rotted?
Lightweight wooden small spoons that I bought to use with spices and honey. They are okay in quality, some of them were stained and some of them feel like they have mold on them. I was not able to clean the stains off so that was a little disappointing. The finish on the spoons is not very good either. I wasn't expecting extremely high-quality, but I had to throw away the stained ones since I cannot figure out the reason of the stain.
