Too open jars 🫙 is great
I have mixed feelings about this jar opener. I appreciate that it is multi-purpose because the main function of it, the jar opener, doesn't seem to work too well in my opinion. It is flexible to a certain point and then it gets thicker and doesn't roll out any farther, making it very difficult to get it onto any larger jars. It does fit ok on smaller jars, but I found it very hard to get it to sit correctly and then actually make it work on larger jars. The tab opener works great! I have such a hard time with those little tab can tops, and this really has made it so much easier. The edge fits right underneath the tab without issue, and it pulls up at just the right angle to open the can.The other small openings seem to work pretty well on things. I tried using them on lots of random things and when they fit, they worked pretty well. Some of the things that did fit still had trouble gripping the tops and would slip. For example, the toothpaste top- it fits perfectly, but I really had to push it in to make it stop slipping and actually get a grip to open it. Some medicine caps fit and they work getting some child-proof tops off.I asked my arthritic mother to try it for a few weeks and she felt it was more trouble to use than just tapping the jars or using other methods. So all-in-all it's an okay tool. I wouldn't really recommend it for people with real grip problems because it ends up being too difficult to operate. Otherwise, for people like me who just need a bit of extra leverage, it works well.
Good luck trying to find a bottle cap it fits !! don't waste your money.
I mostly got this for the jar opening abilities and figured that the other capabilities, such as opening bottle caps and water bottles, would be a bonus. I was, however, a bit skeptical about its jar opening abilities given the way it wraps around a lid. There are other openers that clamp around a top sort of like a nut cracker. Where the leverage comes from in those is obvious. It was not obvious where the leverage would come from in this one, and I worried that I would essentially have to hold it on the jar lid, which would defeat the purpose because I would then be unable to gain the leverage of the handle. However, I opted to try this on a jar of chili crunch from a brand that has previously given me trouble when it comes to opening. I have a strong grip and usually have little difficulty opening jars, but this brand’s jars tend to give me trouble, probably do to the small size of the jar and the limited surface area on the top. I had to pop a hole in the top of one once to release the vacuum seal just to get the lid off. When I put this opener on the jar, I found that the act of trying to open it squeezed the opener around the lid to some degree. I did have to use my hand a little to squeeze it, but I was able to gain enough leverage to easily open this jar. Now, it’s possible that this particular jar was easier to open than these jars usually are (I made no attempt to open it with my hand), but there is no way that it would have been this easy to open it with just my hand. I was very impressed. If I do come across a jar that does not easily open with this or where the opener slides around without getting a grip, I’ll update this, but so far I am very happy with this jar opener.
Unfortunately did not find this jar very effective for removing jar lids. The tool is very lightweight and does not feel solid, and I had trouble wrapping it securely around a jar lid. It slipped often rather than gripping the lip of the lid, so from a jar-opening standpoint it was not helpful. The sections designed for opening water bottle tops also seemed too large and did not work on two different bottles I tried. On the positive side, the claw end did a good job opening soda cans and the built-in bottle opener worked well on beer bottles.
Most of the features work, but I wasn't able to get the jar lid opener to work.
Disappointed in this product. Let's start with the instructions. There are none. Just pictures on the box, of it being used to open things. Moving along...One end of this is supposed to go around jar lids, with the "arm" giving you leverage. Well, no. I found it impossible to open a jar of Marinara. One, it would slip off on almost every try, two, it only has grip surface on half of the part that goes around the lid and three, if the lid isn't gigantic, the stiff plastic doesn't conform to it. Worthless.Next up, there's two "grippies" designed to open bottle caps, etc. Well on a standard water bottle, one grippy is too small and the other is two big. In fact, I couldn't find anything in my kitchen that would fit either.Sticking out one end of this thing is a sharp piece that resembles a claw, that you can supposedly use to open cans. Uhm, no. It took enormous pressure to just puncture a can, and it's made of plastic. As I tried to use it like an old WWII metal can opener, the metal lid just shredded this thing. Finally, there's an old school bottle cap opener. That worked well. All in all, this kitchen tools is close to worthless. It's a shame, I had high hopes.
