This is a complete Dud. It peeled my grape, but took nearly half of the meat off the grape.I do not recommend this peeler. Waste of money
For a long time, making my own tomato soup meant roasting the tomatoes and then manually cranking them through a food mill, which was always a tedious process. That's why I was interested in trying this electric peeler from the JOYHILL Store on Amazon. My first impression, right out of the box, was that I wasn't expecting much. Everything, except for the cutting blades, is plastic, and the battery-powered motor assembly is surprisingly light, weighing only about 8.5 ounces. Even with a lighter, brushless motor, I expected weak performance, but I was wrong; the peeler held its own with no issues.Putting it together was simple since there's only one correct way. I started by using a small, 100-gram tomato. After about thirty seconds, I stopped the machine and was genuinely amazed. The skin was 100% removed without separating any of the tomato's meat. Better still, there was no bruising or lost juices—the result was identical to a high-quality peel achieved after hot water blanching, which is a far more laborious method. This device is proving to be incredibly useful for my cooking. It's a simple, elegant concept that works quite well and saves a lot of time on prep. While the device's peeling function is great, the fruit-ejecting feature is a bit poorer in quality, but simply pouring the fruit out by hand is a small price to pay. Overall, it’s easy to use, take apart, and clean, and it makes quick work of tasks like peeling a head of garlic into cloves in seconds. I'm definitely a fan.
Okay, I got this thinking what a silly device, grape peeling come on really? but wow, was I wrong.First impressions: out of the box: I wasn’t expecting much. All components with the exception of the non removable cutting blades is molded plastic. Additionally, the sealed USB charging, battery powered motor assembly (including internal batteries only weighs in at 8.5oz. Granted the motor is brushless so it will be light, and not draw the current a traditional electric motor would pull. Was expecting low torque, and weak operation, but was surprised it held it own with no issue.First use: put it together is pretty easy, everything is keyed so there’s only one way to assemble it. I didn’t have any grapes available, so instead I put a Roma tomato in. The instructions reference fruits that weigh less than 150 grams and mine was 130 so I went for it. Initially, I wasn’t happy as the tomato made one revolution and got stuck between the chute and center post so I kept stopping to free it and try again. After a few minutes I realized that I can simply reverse the motor and dislodge the fruit. Initially I only saw a few slivers of skin collect in the lower bin reinforcing my initial thoughts. Then after about 30 seconds of the toggle reverse/forward moron I noted the tomato was still getting wedged, but was now rotating in place and the fruit skin collecting in the lower section, I stop and removed to tomato and was shocked. 100% of the skin was gone and no meat was separated. Another thing that amazed me, no juices were lost or bruising noted The final results weeds identical to being peeled after hot water blanching.Count me as a fan, this thing rocks! No more blanching and manually peeling tomato’s for sauce. Going to the store to get grapes but based on the design, I expect similar stellar results.
