wood is nice/size is just right

I've started collecting things made out of Acacia wood and added this bowl to my collection. It's a nice bowl - the grain is beautiful and the size is perfect for my needs. The lid is a little tight though so it's a little hard to take on and off, but my hope is that with use/time it will loosen up a bit. I don't want it too loose but I also don't want it so tight that my salad flies everywhere when I finally get it off. And it's a huge bonus that the serving utensils fit inside the lid! Now I'll never forget to bring my utensils home when I take this to a party.

Gorgeous! Lingering chemical smell.

I’m putting together a lot of acacia items for my kitchen - measuring cups/spoons, cutting boards, a book stand etc. This rounds it out nicely! The set is beautiful, including the utensils that fit perfectly in the lid. It would be nice if it came with some sort of band, or elastic strap - just something to hold the utensils down and keep the lid on, in transport. One con was that there was a strong chemical smell in the bowl, after I unpacked it and opened it up. I had to let it sit on a table for weeks, but every time I put the lid on, and take it off some time later, the smell is still there. Given that this is just wood, shouldn’t it really only be oiled, rather than have some sort of chemical treatment? I will likely sand it well and oil it myself (if this is appropriate for acacia), just to feel like it’s safer to eat out of.
