Great quality spiral dough hook

This is a great hook for making thick doughs! Just by picking it up, you can tell is made of quality materials and the top "plate" does its job in keeping the dough from bunching around the attachment connection.I bought a different spiral hook that was a few dollars cheaper and there was definitely a difference in quality. Also, the other one had a plate with a lip at the top that caught a bunch of ingredients.Spend the extra few bucks and go with this one- it's a much better product!

PLEASE READ MORE though about the risk of using this product with a tilt-head stand mixer.KitchenAid tilt-head stand mixers AKA the Artisan mixer operates differently than the larger Professional mixer where the bowl is risen to the mixer. The Artisan tilt-head works by pushing the dough to the sides of the bowl to knead. To do this, the tilt-head uses a C-hook. The Professional mixer, however, works by pushing dough downward on the bowl to knead. To do this, this model uses a spiral hook, like the one you are looking at. Because of this different method of kneading, the bearings and build of the motors of each model is different. This is an issue.If you use a spiral dough hook on an Artisan tilt-head stand mixer, you will wear out the motor and/or bearings. It may be 6 months, maybe 12, but you will be wearing it out because the model was not designed for that different type of force, pushing down instead of to the sides.The quality of this spiral hook is great. It is really made well. But know you risk damaging your KitchenAid tilt-head solely due to the difference in forces on your motor. I am certain this seller likely has a C-hook, so stick with that design instead. For your mixer’s sake.As for the mat, that's great!
