Beautiful and Well made... will be buying more!

I bough a set of these Forks and matching spoons for my husband as a funny but also practical gift. We have a large family and every time he goes to get a fork or spoon from the utensil drawer the only things that are clean are tea spoons and salad forks. I bought extra flat ware but it still continued to happen. I would always hear my husband proclaim " I'm the biggest one in the house and have to eat with the tiniest forks/spoons!"I chose these because I love the hammered design, they are beautiful but still have a masculine feel. And they stand out from our other basic cutlery.He was confused when he first opened them...but then elated when he realized they were ALL his! Everyone knows those forks and spoons are Daddy's and are completely OFF LIMITS!He he's had them for over a year now- he uses them daily, and they still look brand new! They are larger and have a nice heavy feel to them.I plan to slowly but more until we have a complete set (or two). I would love to replace our current cutlery with them...but for now they will remain strictly Dad's Forks and Spoons!

Better than my existing flatware

I was looking for something that would match my existing Bon Chef flatware in the hammered look. The bottom is different - this new set is straight at the bottom which was fine with me. Based on the reviews I thought I would order to compare the quality. I ordered the forks and larger spoons. To my surprise, this set is far nicer than the Bon Chef and much cheaper!The weight is heavier and they are well balanced in the hand. They’ve held up well after several months of every day use. I typically just run them through the dishwasher and they still look brand new.I’ll definitely be ordering more to upgrade my entire set.

Nice balance and weight -- a little longer than I would prefer

I have always eaten with salad forks since I was a in elementary school and my mom gave me salad forks because our dinner forks were long and heavy. The shorter salad forks just became a habit that I found no need to change. It's probably gauche, but I don't really care what people think about it. It seems that my daughter also prefers to eat with salad forks, as the salad forks from our Oneida set that my husband and I got when we were married keep disappearing. I purchased these (which do not match our Oneidas) to have a couple of forks to keep at work. My primary considerations were the size, the style, and the comfort of using them. I wanted there to be certain amount of heft to them -- I don't like flatware that is too lightweight. I also wanted the handles to be thick enough and without sharp or square edges (these are described as having a squared handle, but the edges of the "square" are gently rounded). These forks fit all my requirements for comfort and hand feel. They are a nice weight and feel nicely balanced in my hand. The handles are very comfortable, not digging into my hand when I am using the edge of the fork to cut a bite of something that doesn't really require a knife but needs a little pressure from the fork. I also think they are very nice looking, and I enjoy using them. My only complaint is that they are a little longer than our Oneida salad forks (pattern name Easton). I am wondering if Oneida is discontinuing the Easton pattern, because on their website they do not show the salad forks available, only dinner forks and dinner spoons (soup spoons). The salad forks are listed on Amazon as "temporarily out of stock". I never bothered to measure our salad forks. These Keawell forks are listed as being 7.6 inches, and without getting up to go to the kitchen at this moment, I would guess that they are overall about an inch longer than the Easton salad forks. The increased length is in both the handle and the fork itself. So if you are really looking for a short salad fork, this is not it. However, it is not as lengthy as our Easton dinner forks, and while I don't prefer it, it is acceptable. It does make me happy to use this at work rather than one of the crappy mismatched stamped stainless steel forks that seem to always inhabit lunchroom flatware drawers (if you can find a fork at all -- I think people use them and either stick them in their desk drawers or in their lunch boxes rather than bother to take them back to the kitchen and wash them.)
