Handy lid opener when grip is a problem

I love this little opener! It’s easy to use and works on small to large lids. Sometimes you might have to adjust it a little on small or slick lids to make it “catch” but works well.

This even works on plastic bottles that are so hard to open. I'm impressed!

Very rugged and works well! Only wish it would go on larger diameter jars, too!

I decided to try this, after having several lesser types that didn't seem to do the job or do it very well! I've used this on several different jars, particularly sweet pickles (the sugar seals the lid very tightly), and it has worked like a champ. It is easy to use, grips like there is no tomorrow, and it well made! I have thought about giving these to several friends and family members who have similar problems with jars! The only complaint is that it is limited as to how far the jaws will spread, so very large jars will not be covered by this one. With the above caveat, I highly recommend this, as it is a great functioning and handy utility tool!

Just durn near perfect!

I watched a couple of videos where content-creators compared and demo-ed a bunch of different types of jar/lid openers. Both agreed this was an excellent choice. And I now agree.Simple to use. Twist open one way until the grips open wide enough. Then twist back the other way to tighten the grips onto the lid. Then twist in the same direction just a bit more after that … and the lid comes right off. It has worked very very easily with my pickle jars, so that says a lot. So long as the lid isn't larger than this gizmo can handle, this is going to be an excellent choice. I saw another reviewer say they remember this type of gizmo being around when they were a kid, so that's just more evidence it works well, that it has stood the test of time, so to speak. I would have preferred to have some handle choices: color of plastic, wood, whatever, but that's certainly not a deal-breaker.Btw, the plastic ones that look like a vise or a nutcracker with four different sized holes in them, they LOOK like they would be good, but those did poorly in the videos: (1) There's a lot of lid sizes that won't match up to them – lid too big, lid too small, or a size that doesn't match up well with any hole – and (2) squeeze & torque 'em too much and they snap in two.

NO EASY OPENING WITH THIS JAR OPENER 👎👎

Disappointed. There is something to be said for where something is made. This opener is of Poor quality. When you adjust it down to grip initially, and then go to turn to open. It doesn’t grip properly as you turn and it slides around the cover. The two curves ( ) on each side of the opener cover don’t grip tightly at all. They just glide around without any resistance. The two ( ) on each side should have some sort small teeth on the end of each curve. That way when you turn the handle, you then can get a firm grip before turning. The jars nowadays are either plastic with ridges or soft metal and smooth. The average person will have the same problem with the jar they are trying to open. Those two ( ) on each side SHOULD + NEED TO HAVE SOME SORT SMALL TEETH ON THE END OF EACH CURVE TO ENGAGE THE JAR TOP FIRMLY. OTHERWISE YOUR JAR OPENER WILL GLIDE OVER THE WITHOUT GRIPPING IT PROPERLY TO OPEN.

So…I like this, but

I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and decided on 3 jar openers to purchase, planning to actually keep all 3. The other two were instant fails for me based on safety (one mounts under cabinet and has two jig saw blades embedded in it to grip the jar, the other just erratically mis-grabs the lid and swings away in the open air).So with this one, I grabbed a salsa jar from the pantry and handed both to my wife. She has wrist pain and struggles often with the task. She put the device on the jar lid, and it spun around scraping paint off the lid but not opening it. Hmmm. Not good.So I gave it a try. I lined it up, but I slowly closed the device until I felt it get a “bite”, and then I turned it with pretty normal force, and off comes the lid. Cool.Well kinda cool. I started operated the device back and forth looking at it my hand and it was turning hard. The gears seemed to be aligned, but it was like something bent?I worked it a bunch of times, and it would sporadically turn smoothly and then hard.I put the lid back on the container, had my wife try it again, telling her to make sure it grabbed on to the lid first, and she was successful.Long story short. I really want to not only like this device but love it. I reduced my rating by one star because of the fact that I BELIEVE one use on a lid damaged the device to the point where it now functions erratically. I also BELIEVE this was a lid I could have removed myself without any tool whatsoever.PS I am keeping the product despite its warts.

Works great! Recommended!

This works as promised. I recently had an operation on my hand and therefore I knew I would have issues opening jars for a few weeks, so I bought this and......it works like a dream! It meant I didn't have to keep bothering my wife whenever I wanted a jar opened. If you're opening jars with plastic lids, it does tear/scratch up the lid a bit, but that's only an issue if you're keeping the jar after you've emptied it. If you're not, then this is a must.Solid, well constructed, and will no doubt last a lifetime.
