Cumbersome to use, not as good as cheaper alternatives
I saw this strainer highly recommended on Serious Eats, but it did not work well for me at all. I found it awkward to use, and poorly designed.The straining coil is not nearly as tight as in the product photos. Not sure if something has changed, but the one I received has a much looser coil (as you can see in the photo comparing it to my Pina Hawthornette strainer).The tab to close the gate and hold it down is all the way at the end, which means that there's not enough pressure to hold it down on the shaker tin. When pouring a cocktail, the weight of the ice would push the strainer up and out of the tin, so the liquid would never reach the mesh part.I would recommend the Oxo strainer or the Pina Hawthornette strainer (Pina has a tight coil, Oxo a loose coil) as much more ergonomic, easier to use alternatives.

I’ve owned the strainer for a month and haven’t used it much as I’m in my slow season at work. I was extremely disappointed to have it fall apart on me after maybe 5 shifts of use.The strainer is poorly assembled and held together by adhesive. I assume the adhesive dissolved from heat and chemicals in my bar dishwasher.The product might work in a home setting but not of enough quality to be used in a working bar.The concept is there but for the price I expected more

High volume cocktail bartender and I LOVE THIS STRAINER!
I use these at work 4 days a week, 11 hours a shift, I used them at Speed Rack, I’ve traveled with them, I love them. I hate ice chips and fumbling with 2 strainers when using eggs so these literally make each day of my life easier. Love them. Buy them.
