Well built, sharp, affordable.
This Primrose Utility/Petty knife is very well built and beautiful to look at. Very sharp out of the box, it cuts like a laser thru butter. The knife is a little on the heavy side, with the blade being lighter than the handle. This knife is easy to control when using it on fruits and green veggies. We will see how long the edge stays sharp and how much time it takes to sharpen it at 61-62 hardness.

I am very impressed!!!
To be clear, this is a review for the KIMROSE Utility Knife - 5 inch - K-ONE Series - 10Cr15CoMoV Damascus Alloy Steel - Black G10 Handle - Wooden Magnetic Sheath - Razor Sharp Kitchen Knife. Since there are four offerings here, I want to be clear about which knife I have.First, the basics ... This knife cuts like a dream! As a test, I chose a ripe tomato because those are notoriously hard to cut. They tend to be soft inside while still having a firm, thin skin on the outside. All my other knives push into the skin and make an imprint without cutting until I first poke the tip of the knife in to break the skin so the edge can cut through the softer inside. (And I had always considered those knives to be reasonably sharp.) This knife needed no help at all. It cut through the tomato like it was air. I deliberately tried to cut ridiculously thin slices to see how well it would work and managed to get slices so thin I could literally read print through them when laid on a paper. They were perfect slices too--no tears or distortion but perfectly round, uniform slices! I am impressed! The knife is beautiful to look at too. With the tang going all the way through the handle (a wonderful thing--you never have to worry about it coming out of the handle like so many cheap knives do) there is room for a decorative touch on the metal at the end of the handle. The blade, itself is a work of art to look at, even though the design is an artifact of the process used to make it rather than a design afterthought. I also really like the nicely-made wooden sheath it stores in. Overall it is a beautiful knife. Now for the technical stuff ... This is not true Damascus steel (that is a very complicated and not entirely understood process about which metallurgists and historians still argue) but it is "pattern welded steel", which is the popularly accepted term used nowadays for "Damascus steel". They are completely different things. True Damascus (or what is more appropriately called Damascened steel) is something of a lost art and has not been reproduced exactly for hundreds of years. So ... even though this is not actual Damascus steel, it can honestly be called that because people accept the term as being interchangeable with pattern welded steel. I only mention this for the purists. It won't change how you feel about the knife, which still works great no matter which name you apply to it.

Excellent 5” knife but the balance is way off, very handle heavy!
Great knife for the price!Quality you can immediately feel and see; comfortable weight in a mans hand (women would love it too), pinch grip super comfortable, razor sharp right out of the box, full tang, half bolster so the entire length can be sharpened and they provide a well made wooden sheath with a magnetic pull inside to securely hold the knife in the sheath.Single finger balance test proves this knife is very handle heavy, definitely not balanced between the blade and handle which is very very important. If you do the balance test be very careful, a severe injury could happen! There was no instruction manual or anything else but the knife, sheath and an oxygen absorber packet inside the box.Well deserved 4 star product (took one star off for the balance issue and no knife care/sharpening instructions inside the box).
