Quality set of kitchen knives. Love the space-saving knife block.

This knife block set is sleek and much more space saving than I expected. It fits well on the edge of a counter, but I’ve decided I like it best sitting flush against the wall or backsplash. In this position it opens up much more counter space. The knives are staggered, so even against the wall I can see all of the knives, making it easier to choose the one I need.I chose the wood-look block. It is classy and stylish and compliments my solid surface countertops. The handles have a sleek black finish. They fit well in my hand and are comfortable to hold and use. The high carbon stainless steel is sturdy, and each knife has a nice, sharp edge. Hopefully they hold their edge over time. So far we are loving them. It is always fun to cook with new knives. The steak knives have lighter weight handles, but they are working well as individual, dinner time meat knives. I love the kitchen sheers! I tend to grab them for all kinds of random uses and so far they are working great. As far as cleaning goes, my kids call me old school. I don’t like washing my knives in the dishwasher, so in that regard I can’t speak to how they would hold up in a dishwasher. With hand washing however, they still look brand new.

They are well packaged and well made. The block is sleek and unique, but honestly, a bit awkward to place near the sink, as it takes up a bit more space than my old set. In terms of actual use, the blades are sharp and can easily slice through anything after some minor sharpening. The steak knives feel somewhat light and cheap. The larger knives (like the Chef's and others) have more heft and feel better balanced. Overall, for a set of stamped knives, they are sharp, enjoyable to use, and given the price, they’re a decent choice.

Mixed feelings but very sharp

The kingstone knife set has both good and some not so perfect qualities. I will start off by saying that everyone of the knives in this set are extremely sharp and they do seem to be maintaining their sharpness throughout the past few months. All the knives with the exception of the steak knives are easy to handle and cut with, I really like the large butcher knife for cutting chicken fillets. Now the steak knives are a whole different quality than the rest of the set. The steak knives are extremely light, flimsy, and they look beautiful blades are off center. I do not like the steak knives at all and I find them to be dangerous. My Mom cut herself while using the steak knives twice in the same evening and I grazed my finger. The knives are the worst steak knives I have ever used and this is due to them as being crocked and off centered and extremely sharp. It’s a real shame because the rest of the knives are great. The base is very large and heavy. It’s does a a sleek and modern look. The scissors that come in the set are very good quality. The larger knives are comfortable to use but the steak knives are horrible.

Slim but mighty

This is how a knife block should be --not taking up a bunch of space, but there when you need it. I was surprised by the weight of it. It seems innocuous and I wasn't a big fan of the black manufactured-material look, but when I tried to move it, I realized I might have underestimated it. (My mom unboxed it for me, so it came as a surprise at the time.) On the counter, the black together with the slim profile makes it even less of an eyesore, a stark difference from our previous wooden block: a giant. (It served us well, but it's presence was cumbersome and loud.) One of the pictures show just how much counterspace can be left in front of this knife block when stored horizontal. I can literally do all the cutting right there.The knives are also good --at least there are no negatives to speak of concerning them. They are fairly standard and come real sharp. The real question is in how easy they are to sharpen, but we haven't gotten to a need to sharpen yet. Plus, I am not too good at it (sharpening), so I might not be the best evaluator on that. (Quick review based on a chat with AI: High carbon SS = (dulls slower, sharpens faster), Low carbon SS = (softer: dulls faster, sharpening takes more work). At least on paper that's supposed to be the case.)I still prefer my magnetic knife holder for our main-use knives --mainly because those knives are not always properly washed before being put up (🫩...), and a knife block isn't the easiest to clean as an after-the-fact step, but for all the other knives, a knife block is both convenient and secure.Overall, this is a perfect way to store knives within easy access without making a space cluttering eyesore of it. Beautiful in design and straightforward in function. Good.
