This dinnerware set is beautiful and durable, exactly what we were looking for. Our shipments arrived with two broken bowls but I contacted seller and they promptly sent replacements with some extra gifts — I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and I highly recommend!

These are pretty plates, but I don't enjoy eating off of them. They're not just matte, they're textured. Most matte pottery also has a smooth finish. You can feel these when you run your fingers over them. It's like a tacky drag. It's not pleasant to run a fork over them (if you're a bread "sopper," these are a no-go). Your opinion may vary, but eating off of these makes me cringe. I will probably only use them for serving.I do think the finish is durable and they're machine washable. The finish isn't easy to scratch. The plates have a nice size and weight. If you're looking for a tactile, matte plate, these would be a nice value. As I said, the black matte is pretty dramatic and stirking.

Ever eat guacamole served in a a molcajete (Mexican lave stone bowl). That’s what it’s like using this dinnerware set, which has a rough sensory feel. Very beautiful, very dramatic, looks great sitting on the table, but impractical.The plates are heavy and sing a loud metallic sound when touching each other, moving on each other or when rubbed with silverware when scooping up food with a spoon or fork. The sound when using a knife to cut food is grating. And then cleaning is difficult as food gets lodged in all the crevices. See photo taken after burrito meal.Some restaurants set a table with beautiful dish ware, which they remove before serving the meal; that’s the way you’ll need to use this set.
