Sleek, well thought design

Crystal clear acrylic lid is a good thickness and fits snuggly over the rubber seal edging that keeps it in place and airtight. Butter stays fresh and on the firm side because of the seal! Best Butter Dish I've Ever Had!

This is without question the perfect butter dish! If you were designing such a butter container to be easy to use, easy to wash, functional, with quality engineering, this would be the one! The only thing that might be different is one of those ceramic pots with the butter in one half, that's inverted into cold water in the other half to keep the butter soft, but also chilled. That's not what I needed. I needed something I could grab some soft-ish butter to put on a piece of toast! With the clear cover, it's easy to see when I'm running out of butter. I don't care about the Tablespoon markings, but I suppose some people might need them. It's easy to cut a pat of butter with anything -- knife, spoon, fork, hatchet, chainsaw -- and overall, is a pleasure to use. Plus it's airtight! Butter never lasts that long around here, but perhaps that's a useful feature in the event a boat capsizes or something.

Good Product

Before ordering this, I had no idea there were differences between west coast and east coast butter sticks. This is supposed to accommodate both, but the "fatter" west coast sticks almost don't fit under the lid. Kinda easy to smear butter on the edges if you're not careful. Nice design with a place to put excess butter. Seals nicely and easy to clean. I'd give it a five if they had a west coast version.

Surprisingly nice butter dish!

I accidently broke our old butter dish in a horrible kitchen accident that involved a plastic door that was reluctant to close, and the miscalculated destruction of about 4 tablespoons of butter. (it is a day that will live in our hearts and minds forever). I decided to go with something plastic since, in my later years I seem to be getting a bit more clumsy, and I was intrigued by the idea that this dish sealed air tight. "If I drop this one", I thought, "not only will it be less likely to break, but my precious butter will be safe from the evils of a possibly dirty kitchen floor!"The appearance is standard, so no frills there, but the top does fit very tightly, and the dish is made from very solid plastic. I have no doubt this butter dish will last for eons, and become a precious and prized family heirloom for generations to come! Ok ok, it's a nice butter dish. You should get one.
