There is a lot to like in this chestnut knife. First, it is the classic blade design which means good leverage and great safety to my fingers. Second, unlike my first chestnut knife (now lost) the metal of the blade is better steel. It is smoother/shiny, so cuts and cleans better, easier. Lastly, the wood handle is also still the same simple handle, but polished and even branded nicely.This is the chestnut knife for safe, easier and effective chestnut prep and shelling. It is a specialty knife BUT......it actually works very well. When cutting the chestnuts you are in control of the movement. I cut plenty with normal kitchen knives but was always dicing with cutting my finger tips. So if you are into chestnuts and keeping your finger tips this is a worthwhile investment.
