I read some negative reviews about these not working properly, but I found them to be easy to use and work great. My first batch only made half circles, but once I figured out how to do it right, they work perfectly. Just overfill the trays, push the top down to expel some of the excess water, let them freeze, then run the tray under warm water while twisting until the ice balls pop out.
This makes full ice cube balls with ease. It fits well in the freezer and the top makes it easy and stupid proof to make great ice cube balls. It's a little tricky to get them out the first couple times but once you get the hang of it this becomes easier. Very happy that there are two trays and the storage container is perfect for making a lot - which is great if you're having a party and don't want to run out.
Works great! For those having trouble opening it, make sure you fill and seal properly, wait the 36 hours, and let it sit for a minute or so. Worked like a charm. Minus 1 star because the container lid does not fully close when filling both trays of ice inside.
Mold works great. 2.5 inch ball is just a little too large. 2.0 inch would be better.
We tried several Craft Ice trays and this one provided large ice balls and filling the tray was easy. The quality of the tray helps.
Easy to use. Produces fun ice cubes. For those giving negative reviews about ease of use, you have to fill to the correct line. There is a more prominent line that is lower than the water fill line. Fill to the line that says water fill line. also, if the ice cubes don't come out easily, simply run it under warm water for a few seconds.
I gave these to a friend for Christmas because the 4 of us were going to Belize in January. He had casually mentioned that it might be nice to have BIG balls for his scotch drinks. They work well; you just need to be sure to fill it to the FULL LINE. No less, no more. I thought they might be hard to open, but so far, we have had no problems. They are great to have in the tropics because you still,have ice by the time you finish your drink. Highly recommend them.
