An excellent version of a classic soup/stew bowl, in a good size capacity. Retains heat of contents very well. French Onion Soup, any version of chili or stew. And an inviting presentation of homemade pate or mousse, even hummus.
These bowls are sturdy but not too heavy. Perfect size for so many uses. These are durable and good looking ( I like the traditional look of them) . They wash well. Soup, chili, so many uses.
I was throwing a dinner party and needed French Onion Soup bowls. I was a bit ridiculous but I didn't want to risk ruining soup bowls in a broiler. These bowls are just what I expected and are similar to bowls I'm served at restaurants. I prefer the two handles for taking them out of the oven as it makes it easier. They are traditional in style and people instantly recognize them as onion soup bowls. Everyone was impressed. Of course, you can use them for any soup and we have.

I've made french onion soup twice since I bought these and they have been perfect. Thick, heavy, gorgeous. They have the inner lip that helps hold the cheese up so that it gets a good carmelized melt.There is simply nothing I can even conceive of criticizing about these. They are that good.
