Bought 2 of these sets. The hand pump works, but the seals(all of them) do not seal. The containers themselves when little vacuum applied, sucks in the walls of the containers. Even the small container. I do like the idea of the rotating "date-dail" for each lid.
Love these. I bought one set, used them, and came back for this bigger set. I don’t know why there are any bad reviews. Here is my experience:SEALING:As long as I make sure the tops are seated properly on the containers and no food is caught between, I can get a very tight seal that lasts. I use my vacuum machine and seldom use the hand-held vacuum that comes with them.Also, the containers are make of sturdy but flexible plastic, so the sides bend in when I put a strong vacuum on them, but they ease back out when the vacuum is released or when I soak them a bit in hot water.Food lasts SO much longer, especially delicate fruit like raspberries I have kept fresh for over a week. As soon as I get home from the grocery I wash all my fresh foods, prep them, and put them in these containers. So nice to have them ready when it’s time to cook.STACKABLE:Once filled, it’s really nice to be able to stack them to save room on the shelf or in the fridge.WASHABLE:I throw the bottoms in the dishwasher top shelf and rinse off the tops. If the tops need more cleaning I pop out the blue seals (so easy to do) before putting the rest of the top in the dishwasher.PRACTICAL DESIGN:The tops come in 3 sizes and are interchangeable.
very cheep seals, you can get a partial vacuum on a couple of them but if you bump it or wait 10 minutes they lose all the air. Cheaply made so you may get ones that work decently, but i didn't and looking at other reviews, not many others do either.
Was a bit disappointed as thought I was getting electric one but has a hand pump but other then that I like them
Not what I expected and I'm debating whether to go to the trouble to return them or store them in my gift cabinet for giving later or just use them like I would any other dollar store plastic container. Over-priced for plastic containers that are equal to Dollar Tree containers with a pretend vacuum seal. When I tested the seal I discovered that the valve to remove the O2 from the container pops off when you vacuum the air out of the container. They aren't totally useless, but they definitely aren't vacuum seal containers.
I must take off two stars because the primary feature promoted in the description doesn’t work at all. They are great otherwise, but they are not airtight, and do not hold a vacuum at all. The vacuum device works easily - you can tell as the sides bend inwards, and then they relax back out again, as the seal doesn’t hold.But I really like the no-wasted-space aspect of their rectangular shapes. If you are after space-saving in your fridge, they are convenient and useful.Also very useful and well-done is the clear dating system on the lids, with a marker for both date and month, which slide into place and are very readable.For food safety, I will continue to use glass for liquids. There was an initial “plastic smell” as well as smells from packaging, travel and warehouse influences, but all of it aired out well from keeping outside a few days.One other issue I encounter was that some flaps don’t initially stay clicked into the closed position, but I found by working them all the way open and closed a couple times, the bendy part got less stiff and then they worked perfect. In the meanwhile, I also thought about cutting the two long flaps off - do I need four flaps on each? Either way, the closure works well, and is quick now.I like them, and am sorry to discount them for the vacuum feature failure. Because, as non-vacuumed containers, they are quite nice.
