I ordered this Lenox 899187 Studio 1414 Coupe 18-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service For 6 for the upcoming holiday season. I have several sets of vintage china from my grandmothers and great grandmothers, but I’ve been looking for a while for a classic, simple set of dinnerware I can use as a base when creating an eclectic mix from different sets. This Lenox set is exactly what I’ve been looking for, a three piece place setting with clean lines that I can mix with my vintage patterned and colored china. This dinnerware set is made from bone china in true white. The china has a slight gloss and is bright white without any shade of cream or off-white. The eighteen piece set serves six; each place has a 11” dinner plate, an accent/salad plate about 8 3/4”, and a deep round bowl about 6 1/2” deep and 3” tall. The place settings are simple circles, but they’re pretty enough to use for a fancy dinner; they’re also sturdy enough to use for daily meals. The slightly glossy finish dresses up the china a bit; the plain white plates mix nicely with my family pieces. This dinnerware is microwave and dishwasher safe; very convenient. It washes up quickly by hand, too; we live in a tiny house in NYC with a teensy dishwasher that has limited top shelf space. I found the china cleaned up quickly and easily. My teenager loves the bowls; they’re nicely deep and round, and he says they’re perfect for snacks. At the current price ($129.95) this set delivers style as well as value; the clean lines and true white finish complement any style of decor, and make a great base for mixing in vintage and antique dinnerware. The set serves six; you get the Lenox brand at a fairly friendly price point. This could make a nice wedding present or housewarming/apartment warming gift; it’s also fairly inexpensive if you want to add extra places at the table this holiday season. The white bone china can easily be mixed with all kinds of designs and patterns.I ordered these for the Christmas dinner table, but I like them so much, I think it’s time to get rid of some of our mismatched daily dinnerware and add these to the rotation.
This 18-piece Lenox Studio 1414 Coupe dinnerware set includes 6 dinner plates, 6 accent (salad) plates, and 6 all-purpose bowls. The dinner plates measure 11" in diameter, the salad plates are 8.9", and the bowls are 3" high by 6.4" in diameter. They arrived well packaged & showed up in perfect condition.I really like the look of this set- it feels elegant, modern, and clean without being cold or overly minimal. The glossy finish is beautiful, and it fits perfectly with a contemporary aesthetic. The bowls are especially versatile: great for a bowl of pasta or soup, but also works as smaller serving bowls for sides like vegetables or rice.Being dishwasher and microwave-safe is a big plus. I’ve washed them multiple times in my low-tech dishwasher using eco-friendly detergent, and they’ve held up well so far.My one hesitation is that the packaging doesn’t clearly state whether the dishes are lead and cadmium-free. I did some digging and even tried reaching out to Lenox directly but couldn’t get a clear confirmation. The only information I found is that newer Lenox dinnerware sold in the U.S. is made to meet or exceed FDA standards for lead and cadmium, making food-contact surfaces safe, which is reassuring, but I do wish this were stated more explicitly.Overall, I’m really pleased with this set. While I would personally love a set of 8, this works well for smaller households like mine. It looks great, feels nice in hand, and seems like good quality for the price -especially for bone china.
Although the outside of the shipping box was damaged, a little bit all of the dishes and the inner box were totally fine. It came with six large plates six regular size plates and six bowls. It has a very clean nice look to it, and works with any table setting as it's white.I washed everything in the dishwasher. I microwaved a bowl in our low wattage microwave on a turnstile for four minutes and I was still able to pick up the bowl without it, burning my hands. The bottom of it was hotter. But I could still touch the sides. I also reheated some food on one of the plates for about 5 minutes, and the plate was too hot to touch, had to use an oven mitt to get it out and wait for it to coolThe plates feel like they are more durable than some thinner plates we’ve had. The bowls are thinner, except for at the bottom where it is thicker. The plates curve up for about a third of an inch and it’s fairly steep. So I can see these plates being really good for saucy type of dishes. Like pastas or something. However, it might be a little annoying if you’re trying to use a knife to cut steak because of the angle.I think the price is a little high for what you receive although reasonable for Bone China. With the plate/bowl getting that hot and the lip being steeper than expected I am only going to give it four stars.
I was quite happy for the purchase of this set. The quality of the dishes was quite impressive and there was no issues cleaning it or putting it in the washer. The style of the bowls and dishes was designed efficient enough for daily use. The durability is pretty good as I have not yet broken any dishes since I bought it.
I’m extremely pleased with this Lenox dinnerware set. The bone china feels high quality, with a smooth finish on the bottom of each piece and a solid feel that’s substantial without being heavy. The crisp white color is classic and elegant, making it easy to use for everyday meals while still looking refined enough for entertaining. The bowls are generously sized and the plates are well-proportioned. Everything cleans up beautifully in the dishwasher with no staining, cloudiness, or scratches. The set has proven to be durable for everyday regular use. For the quality, design, and versatility, this set is well priced.
