Very pretty; I like the fluting effect and the narrow gold trim at the rims.
I ordered this Lenox 899192 Blue Bay White 18-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service For 6 with an eye towards the coming holiday season; I wanted a set of white dinnerware I could mix with family heirloom pieces and some of my favorite estate sale finds. This is a lovely set; the gold trim and slight fluting are fancy enough for holidays and special dinner parties, but they’re sturdy enough that we can also use them for regular dinners if we’re in the mood to dress up the table a bit. This eighteen piece set serves six; each place setting consists of a dinner plate, an accent plate, and a bowl. I like the slightly smaller size; in recent years, it seems like place settings keep increasing in size. The plates and bowls are just a bit smaller than our modern china, and are sized perfectly to mix with my grandmother’s and great-grandmother’s china sets. The dinner plates we received are about 11” in diameter; the salad/dessert plates are 8”. The bowls have a 6” diameter and are about 2 3/4” tall. The set is made of porcelain; it’s a pretty white without being too shiny. The plates and bowls are edged with a thin gold rim. The sales page says the gold trim is microwave and dishwasher safe; I’ll admit I haven’t felt up to testing the gold in our microwave.I’ve been hand washing these for two reasons; longevity, and our small dishwasher. We live in a tiny NYC house; the top rack of our dishwasher fills super fast, and I tend to wash our china and crystal by hand. These wash up quickly and easily by hand. It’s nice to know I can put them through the dishwasher, especially if I’m in a hurry,I would call these nicely durable for a set of porcelain; the fluted design is attractive, and the plates are middle weight. They’re not super thin, and they’re not chunky; I like the medium weight, as they’re likely to last for years if cared for properly. At the current price ($214.95) I think these deliver excellent value; the place settings are attractive and the fluted edges add visual interest. I like knowing these are from Lenox; a heritage brand. The porcelain is well made and can be dressed up or down for dinner parties or daily meals. The simple white porcelain and gold trim looks great on a white linen tablecloth with silver and crystal; it also looks nice with placemats and everyday utensils. This could make a nice wedding present, or a great housewarming/apartment warming gift. I like the service for six; enough settings for guests, but still small enough to fit in our limited cabinet space. Sadly, in our small home, there’s not room to store dinnerware for twelve or twenty four places.I really like this set from Lenox; the bowls are deep enough for serving soup or salad, and make nice ice cream bowls, too. The plates can also be used as small platters on a buffet or for serving small appetizers. It’s versatile and pretty; just what I was looking for.EDIT: I later ordered a four-piece set of pasta bowls in the same pattern. The pasta bowls had the same fluted design and gold rims and were an excellent addition to the porcelain set of dinnerware. The pasta bowls are a nice alternative or addition to the original three piece set of dinnerware plate/smaller plate/soup bowl. The bowls are about 8 3/4” in diameter and 1 3/4” tall; they hold enough pasta to satisfy my husband and tee aged son, both big pasta fans. Like the original set, the pasta bowls are a bit on the smaller side; I like the look of the smaller dishes, and they’re great for visual reminders of portion control. That being said, the bowls still hold enough pasta for a hungry teenaged boy.

Everybody NEEDS pasta bowls and this dinnerware set!!!
I recently purchased a new set of this dinnerware but it did not come with pasta bowls. My old set of dinnerware had pasta bowls and if you've never had pasta bowls before, you don't know what you are missing. They come in quite handy. Anytime I make a dish that is more saucey, I reach for the pasta bowls. No more noodles sliding around on a flat plate trying to capture them to eat. The pasta bowl shape makes for super easy capturing of the food. I love the Lenox Blue Bay line. The quirky shaped edges are unique and make the dish interesting. Yet the silver trimmed edges glam it up so these work great for every day use, or for fancier dinners. Lastly, this dinnerware set is made of porcelain, not stoneware which means they are far more resistant to chipping. The dinnerware set does not come with a coffee cup which I am GRATEFUL for. I do not need a bunch of coffee cups, I'd rather have the salad plates and cereal bowls, which the dinnerware set comes with. I couldn't love the Blue Bay pattern more than I do. The pasta bowl size is large enough for a hefty serving so if the pasta is the main course, you can dish up what you want without having to go back for seconds. EVERYTHING about this pattern is the best!!!

Perfect organic + casually elegant design, we are OBSESSED
Absolutely stunningly gorgeous, in person these knocked my expectations out of the park! The balance of "handcrafted imperfection" in the design against the sense of Lenox quality/perfection is absolutely perfect. These feel organic yet refined, and are so beautiful to look at and functional to use. They stack well and fit anywhere. They have a flawless gold rim that is nonetheless DISHWASHABLE.I'm a persnickety and observant person, and got a set of 4 expecting 3 to be good-pristine and 1 to have a minor flaw that I would just have to live with, bc ecommerce right? I was shocked that everything came perfect, not a single scratch or ding or hairline crack that I could see.I'm so glad I held out on buying those ridiculously overpriced but beautiful Japanese hasami-style stoneware sets that were all the rage a few years back. These are pricey but a much better value and the perfect kind of half-casual, half-fancy feeling set. I might have to get a full dinnerware setting to match these pasta bowls because they are just so perfect. These aren't huge btw, I'd put them on the low-medium capacity size for pasta bowls. That's not a problem for me, but if big portions are your jam just fyi.

Lovely and Practical Dinnerware
This Lenox service for six is perfect for the following reasons: 1) The plate's design is simple elegance. Clean and simple that can be used every day or can be the backdrop for a decorated table; 2) Each service consists of a full dinner plate, a salad plate, and a bowl. In addition to being full size, these plates are microwave and dishwasher safe making them very practical; 3) The plates are easy to stack on top of each other. Also, the plates themselves are light but not lightweight; and 4) The set arrives in a very attractive robin egg blue color box with simple elegant design which is consistent with the quality and class of Lenox which would make this a great housewarming or wedding gift to consider. Overall, an excellent dining set to bring everyday elegance to your dining.
