Beautiful Dutch oven for bread

I am new to making sourdough bread and had to choose a Dutch oven for baking. I liked the domed ones like this and it was the right color and a good price. I made my first loaf of bread a couple of days ago. The Dutch oven worked perfectly, but I had over proofed my dough and it did not hold its shape well. I had put a piece of parchment paper under the loaf but did not realize the dough ball would spread out so much. Where the paper was only a couple of inches wider than the dough the edge of the pan and lid were exposed and the bread baked onto it. I took the pan out so I could take off the lid and return the bread to the oven for the final minutes as directed. The only problem was the lid and bottom were stuck together and the lid wouldn't come loose. How do you get a grip on a 450 degree hot pan and its lid so you can pull it loose? I finally decided to try a knife. I finally got the lid loose from the pan but it stuck to the bread! I ran the knife around the edge and managed to cut the bread loose so I could return it to the oven to finish baking. The bread tasted great even though it was missing some pieces. And next time I will use two sheets of parchment crossed over each other so the dough won't touch the lid, and I won't over proof my dough so it is stiffer and can hold its shape better.I was very pleased the edge of both pieces did not chip when I forced the knife between them and ran it along the edge of the lid to loosen the bread. I had to scrub the edges a lot to get the baked on pieces cleaned off and it washed up fine. It is heavy like all cast iron and I use sink liners to protect the kitchen sink and the cast iron pans from hitting each other. It made a large loaf of bread.

Cast Iron Dutch Oven for Bread Baking.

This items has been GREAT for baking bread. Very good quality cast iron Dutch oven with enamel coated interior. I love the color I choose, blue. It is so pretty.I worried a bit when I first got it because it gave a caution of not heating on high heat. I think the trick is the be careful and heat it up slowly, don't put anything cool into while it is still hot. Also, do not submerge in water and dry the edges after washing as cast iron will rust.The shallow bottom makes it easy to get the bread in and out and it also allows the crust to come out just perfect on my sourdough.I have used this multiple times, it's perfect for my needs at an affordable price compared to others.
