finally something heavy duty with large handles to take the struggle out of coring apples. love it. I had a small one for years that drove me nuts. could only use finger tips to press down. this one is awesome. I have done 16 lbs of apples already with more to come. I do a lot of canning. easy to clean. blade is nice and sharp thickness of frame is strong. and it saves an incredible amount of time. from slicing them.
This apple slicer cuts apples thin like a thick cracker so it’s the perfect size for a slice of cheese. It works on super large apples too!
I picked up one of those larger apple slicers and it’s been surprisingly useful. The blades are sharp enough that you’re not fighting the fruit, and it cuts cleanly with one push. It feels sturdy and doesn’t twist in your hands.The bigger size makes a difference, especially with larger apples or pears. I actually used it when I made a pear tart and loved how easy it was to get smaller, even slices without having to slow down and switch to a knife.Only downsides: the handles feel a little thin when you’re pressing hard, and you do have to be careful washing it because the blades are close together. Nothing major, just things you notice.Overall, it’s been a solid time-saver and I reach for it way more than I expected.

I got this slicer to replace an old 8 slice unit I had that was plastic holding metal cutting blades that failed. The old slicer diameter was too small sometimes to cut larger apples, so I was looking for somethin bigger, and this has a larger outer circle to fit a larger apple if you need it. I did not really think about the difference between 8 slices and 12 slices, but I quickly learned the difference the first time I used this slicer. It tales more force to cut through the apple at 12 locations than it does to cut through 8 locations. It was not difficult just caught me by surprise. and I will get use to it. It cuts an apple pretty good, the first couple of times I had trouble cutting down the center, and it takes some extra effort to finish the cut to get the slices to separate the peal at the end, but I will get use to it. All and all it seems to be a good quality slicer and should last up better than the plastic one I had. A nice addition was this unit comes with a plastic cover or tray that fits on the end of the slicer to protect the cutting portion of the blades while in storage.
For the price it’s surprisingly durable and does a great job cutting apples! Excellent quality!
