very sturdy and quiet
This thing is a BEAST! If using on a stable firm floor and a firm board on top I could easily feel confident using it with anything you might find in a home (except maybe larger gun safes...). There is a white ring of something that encases the ball bearings and really does quiet the sound, I only hear a mild swishing sound. It comes with rubber feet attached in eight places on the top and the bottom. If you prefer, you can remove the feet and use flat head screws pushed through from the other side instead (for just one side this is easy, but careful planning of the sizes and maybe an access hole would be required to do this for both sides since the first anchored board would be in the way of the screw head side of the other board). The description pics don't show this, but there is a small offset between the outer and inner rings (between a 1\16" and an 1/8", see my pics), so you don't need to worry about the load or the floor rubbing on the other ring if you use screws (no spacer washers needed). For heavy loads I would recommend using a stiff board on top to spread the load around instead of just focusing all the weight on a few spots on the ring and make sure the bottom surface is even or use a board there too (to avoid pressure points from dips or high spots that stress the aluminum and warp it slowly over time).
