They come with a very strong wood smell. I did not soak them in salt water and brush them with oil like the video showed, I just washed them thoroughly in warm soapy water and let them air dry. After about a week of storage in my cutlery drawer, they do not smell much at all. I like that these do not have any coating or paint that will eventually flake off and get in your food. Just natural wood.
These are nice chopsticks. Nicely packaged and well made. We have used them for homemade sushi……👍
Definitely need cleaned first lots of murky brown residue. Missed that on the posting. They seem pretty nice after cleaning drying and conditioning. Do not use olive oil as they suggest that can go rancid and attract bacteria. You should use a food grade wood safe oil like for cutting boards.
Expensive. Worth every penny for me. They may sell this in Chinese supermarket they may not. Not Driving there to find out. Love the all wood overly painted and especially not pointy. Throw all the slippery shinny pointy ones out. Also hate the metal ones. I think Korean Japanese might use Those. I am Chinese. These are old fashion frok childhood. Non slippery. Love it.
