Great product — don’t be misled by the sound in videos.
I almost didn’t buy this after seeing a video where the kettle’s sound seemed harsh, but in person it’s much more pleasant. It reminds me of a woodwind instrument — more clarinet than screech. I actually prefer it to the traditional high-pitched whistle. As for the “rattling” some people mention — it’s just the whistle ball in the spout. It’s part of the design, helps create the sound, and regulates steam. Not a flaw, just how it works. But when you move the kettle the ball moves so that’s what you’re hearing.

Loud
Bought this to replace a fellow pour over kettle that I negligently melted because it had no whistle, since they discontinued the uncoated stainless steel version I decided to go for this one and I’m pleased with it. It puts out an insanely discordant woodwind note that cuts through any noise that could distract you; build quality is decent and the packaging was absolutely exorbitant. Honestly felt guilty about the carbon footprint shipping this one, but hopefully it’s a kettle that serves me for years to come.

foghorn-like whistle is too much
It is nicely styled and well made. The temperature spike protruding from the underside of the lid is a bit weird. But the first time we boiled water the sudden foghorn-like blast of the "whistle" startled my wife and terrified the cats. I intended it for use in my camping van, where the noise would be even more irritating, so I returned it.

Love the whistle - 4.5 stars kettle
I read so many negative reviews about the whistle on this kettle and decided to try it anyway and i actually prefer it to other kettles I’ve used. It sounds more natural like a woody instrument instead of the more common security whistle. This kettle looks fantastic, it’s modern and classic at the same time. The handle stays cool enough to grab bare handed so you don’t really need the handle cover provided (at least not on induction).Sometimes I wonder if the stainless is on the thinner side, especially on the bottom, but I think I’m just looking for something. It feels a little on the small size but it’s enough for making two+ “cups” of coffee.I’m impressed with the pour, it was slower than expects but that turned out to be a good thing as I have more control for my pour-over.I use this on induction and while Made In has a reputation of their pans warping, this doesn’t show any signs of doing so; although their care instructions state not to use on high heat which is the only real thing I can fault this kettle for.

Stylish, non-toxic kettle - love!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I love this kettle! I was hesitant due to some reviews about the loud “train-like” noise, and it is exactly that, but I try to catch it beforehand. The sleek and stylish design looks great on my stove. Made In is a brand I’ve come to absolutely trust for clean, non-toxic kitchen supplies. The temperature gauge on top is a bonus since I found out water for a French press is best at 190° (which happens before the train noise @ boiling). Comes with a pot holder for the handle but we don’t use it as it just isn’t necessary, the handle doesn’t get hot. So glad we purchased this!
