Tape holds on textured surface

Update: Love it still after almost 4 months. I have this mounted on a slate tile back spash. I didn't want to drill into the tile because I wasn't ready to commit to this product forever so I used the 3M tape it came with. Given the nature of slate, it's very textured and I wasn't sure if the tape would hold. So far I'm really happy and if it eventually comes off, I won't hold it against this product. I don't think this is the most reasonable use case. Also note that the slate tiles aren't perfectly flush with each other. I hadn't factored that in prior to purchase so I wasn't able to mount this where I wanted (originally 6" left of where it ended up) because it would teeter totter on a fulcrum of the highest point of the tile. Fortunately this alternative spot worked and looks ok, but if you're using this on uneven tile, test the spot first with a solid ruler, board, or book.I cleaned the tile, let it dry fully (about 15 min), then I applied the tape to the board, then to the wall. I held it firmly for 30 sec at the edges, then 30 sec in the middle, then 30 s more on the edges, and a final 30 s on the middle. I left it alone for more than 48hrs, actually more like 60 hours, before putting any knives up.It's been up for almost 4 months now. Holds a lot of utensils (I worry I loaded it too much but let's see what it can do), but about a full inch or more on the two ends are unusable (no magnets in there). Just be aware of that but it looks really nice. The product itself is really surprisingly heavy (good quality wood and magnets!). The wood grain is an attractive, warm walnut finish. Looks good even with my blond cabinets (I thought darker looked better with the slate backsplash than blond). I'm allergic to cheap looking wood veneers and I think this will be pleasing to most.

Functional and looks great!

This is a beautiful piece of work and the magnet is amazingly strong. I have a very heavy knife and it practically grabs the knife from my hand to hang it, it holds the knives extremely well. Installation couldn’t have been easier with the option of adhesive tape or screws to hang it (adhesive tape, template, screws and anchors included). Definitely recommend getting this one, you won’t regret it.

Works well for the most part

I appreciate the walnut color and length of this magnet strip. The wood seems to be good quality and the stain in done evenly and thoroughly. The only issue I have is further out towards the ends, the magnet isn't as strong and therefore you lose some, what I feel should be usable space. I understand there needs to be room for the screws that mount it, however it's depleted further in than those. That being said we don't have a huge amount of knives at this point, so what we have fits fine. We did not put the hooks on because we only wanted to showcase knives, but that is a great feature for someone who would use it. Overall I would recommend for the look and length at the price point compared to others we've purchased and returned.
