High quality tool with great value
I have several black walnut trees in my backyard, and I've tried to find ways to utilize these weird tasting nuts with the hardest nutshell in the solar system. Decided to make black walnut bitters which means I needed to harvest, husk and shell over 50 of these aromatic nuts, so I knew I needed a quality nut cracker. This thing worked great, it took me over three hours but I managed to shell the most black walnuts I've ever tackled, and this tool was clutch.As a tip for anyone who's foraging black walnuts, husking them is easier if you put them in paper bags and run them over with your car. It crushes the green husk and makes it easier to remove. Make sure after they're husked that you rinse them several times in a bucket to get as much residual husk off the nut shell as you can, and throw out any nuts that float in the bucket because they're no good. Let them dry and cure for 3 weeks.Then when it comes to shelling, soak them in a bucket again for 1-2 hours. This makes the shell more pliable and less likely to shatter. Put the nut in the cracker tip to tip, you want to crush it from top to bottom, not side to side. So pointy tip against one side of the cracker and flat base against the other, and press slowly.These are the hardest nuts you'll ever find, and this tool easily cracked over 50 of them with ease. Definitely recommend this tool for cracking any bulk nuts you may have.

Works great but...
I like this nut cracker but my walnuts are too big. They are home grown and much bigger than normal size walnuts. If you are doing different sized nuts then it has to be adjusted. Even though I like the concept I don't think I would buy it again however the grandkids think it is fun to crack them.

Macadamia nuts are the hardest nut to crack, with an outer shell, and then the hard inner shell. The inner shell is the reason I bought this nutcracker. After many years, I gained experience and knowledge into cracking the macadamia nuts via a bench vise in my garage. Even with experience and knowledge of how to crack the nuts without the shells exploding up into my face and/or onto the garage floor, I would still get the nut meat to come out split into various parts, seldom never whole. Also, after several hours of cracking a basket full of nuts, my hands would get sore from turning the handle on the bench vise. This nut crackerhas solved all of those problems. A quick one-punch, the shell cracks into the box, the nut meat comes out whole 99% of the time, and my hands (and garage floor) are clean. What took me two hours in the garage, not takes about 30 minutes for the same basket full.
