Love it! I have two now, one black and one white. I got tired of going back and forth from the cooking counter to the table, carrying the salt box, so I got another. They both work perfectly. I've had the black one for years now, no issues. I don't understand the negative reviews. The white one I just ordered is beautiful and in perfect shape. Thanks for such a great and reasonably priced product.
The photo of the salt cellar advertised looks like a darker color than what I had recieved. Due to that reason alone, i gave four stars instead of five. In all, aside from the color, It feels to be a good quality and looks very nice. It holds a good quantity of salt. Note that it does have some weight to it. Size medium banana for scale reference.
I keep this right by the stove top and can sprinkle salt and pepper as needed with one hand since the top swings. I originally didn't think I would like the idea of a swinging top but Im sooo happy I got it and will purchase several more to gift to my friends as they too would find it convenient and pretty to keep on the counter and use as needed rather than reaching into a cupboard every time you need a sprinkle of salt or pepper.
Less than a week, the top cracked when using it. The pivot pin for some reason at that point cracked the top into two and no longer usable. Would return, but tossed the packaging after I was only disappointed in the color vs the "BLACK" it was sold as.________________________________________________________Color is so far off that I would not have on my counter. Blue/Grey color vs the dark black and grey in the picture. Disappointing. But - the quality seems good to me. The lid does only open one way also - could be part of the design.
This is heavy stone, gray and shiny in nature. I'm assuming it's marble. It looks very well made and it does not appear to me to be fragile.
I am particularly fond of this salt box, which features two compartments and a swivel-top design. The marble construction is aesthetically pleasing, and its purpose is to keep salt dry and readily available for use and it has worked effectively for me
I use the larger size for salt and the smaller size for pepper. I would have rated 5 stars but the cellar was not true black (marbleized dark grey and black). It still works with my decor so I kept.
