So much better than the original that came with my Kitchen Aide unit.

My original kitchen aide unit (over 20 years old at this point, and still going strong) came with several attachments, including a meat grinder. The auger/worm drive was plastic, fit poorly, and wouldn’t even grind bologna. This thing zipped right thru a pound of bologna for my wife’s bologna salad, then a bunch of hard boiled eggs for her egg salad, and finally 1.5 lbs of pork butt to mix with ground beef (great for stretching the insanely expensive stuff). No stoppages at all (of course I cleaned everything out between the different foods).I have a large commercial meat grinder for big batches of ground meat (we make our own all natural dog and cat food), but this thing is great for small batches of stuff.Yes, compared to a dedicated meat grinder, the parts are thin and lightweight. But for small batches for meals, it works great, and seems as if it will really last if you take care of it and don’t abuse it.TIP: put the entire assembled grinder in the freezer for an hour or 2 before grinding. This helps reduce sticking and mushing of items being run through it. I also put a small drizzle of coconut or avocado oil down the chute first. Also, dense meats like pork need to have the thick fat cap trimmed off - not entirely, but thick portions of fat will bind and gum up the works (this is more a function of the motor in the kitchen aid than it is this meat grinder attachment).

This attachment to our mixer is great we grind all of our own meats and make our own burgers and sausages. Make sure the meat is firm! Place ours in the freezer for 1 hour before we start grinding. Saves a lot of money
