The design seems a little odd, but it works well.
The product was sturdy and easy to clean using the brush they provided. Wash by hand, as directed, since aluminum will discolor in the dishwasher. When the grinder is assembled, the grinding plate protrudes slightly beyond the aluminum sleeve (about 1/8") and doesn't fit exactly into the slot provided. This means that it's super easy to over or under tighten the grinder when the end cap is screwed on. There's a very fine line between too tight and too loose. I had the opportunity to compare this to a similar item from another manufacturer. It was made exactly the same way, so it must be designed that way on purpose. Odd, but it works great as long as you are very careful not to over tighten. I had excellent results with the coarsest grinding plate, and simply ran it though twice if I needed finer grind. This was more efficient than using the medium plate, which had to be unclogged sometimes. Being able to grind your own meat is a game changer for cooking!

Hooked Right Up
When searching for attachments for my new mixer, I didn't want anything plastic and this was a good price for all metal. Got it connected to my KitchenAid very easily. Haven't ground anything yet with it but it is a sturdy piece of equipment, very well made. Was able to rebox it easily in its original packaging, love all the different pieces for coarse to fine grinding. Plan on buying a lot of meat on sale and grinding my own burgers and making my own chicken brats. This was a good purchase! Only thing I noticed that might be an issue is that the top funnel part is a little sharp in spots around the rim. I am sure I can smooth it out with my dremel. Other than that, it is perfect! Will update after using to advise how well it grinds and cleans up.

More versatile than one might think
First off, I lowered the overall rating because the first one I received had 5 parts missing - either bad quality control or irresponsible reshipment of a return that was missing things. But once I got a complete set, I found it worked pretty well. My first use was to grind dry chiles with the medium plate. This grinder produced nice sized flakes, not the powder plus big chunks from a typical bladed spice/coffee grinder. I'm looking forward to making my own pork sausage from tenderloin, and expect a good outcome.

All the ground meats, at under half the kitchenaid price
I was recommended by a friend to take a look at 3rd party attachments given his experience with both a pasta attachment and meat grinder, so when I stumbled upon a pasta attachment I also took a look at a meat grinder. I've always wanted a meat grinder to mainly make my own ground meat, and not so much to make sausage, especially to make custom beef blends, as well as grind pork and other meats that aren't as frequently sold in stores.In checking out the parts, it looks pretty comparable to what's available from kitchenaid, though the finish looks slightly different. However, it looks like the grinding plates and sausage attachments are quite similar. I do also like that this is all metal versus other grinders I've seen where they use some plastic parts.I've only used this once so far to make smash burgers (so good!), and assembly was super easy and the strong motor in the kitchenaid mixer made it really easy to grind the meat. The only downside is the parts are not supposed to be cleaned in the dishwasher, but I think that is likely the case for other similar grinders as well.At over half the price of the kitchenaid mixer, so far this is a good buy. Time will tell how it holds up, but given the metal construction I think that helps alleviate concerns

Read the Instruction Pamhplet and Listen to It
This is actually really nice for the price. Not sure I would want to use it everyday, but for the casual at home user it is pretty perfect.I read the manual up front and used it as instructed. It works!However, I ignored the part where it told me not to wash certain parts in the dishwasher. I figured that it was aluminum and that I knew better.I did not know better. The parts all came out heavily corroded. Follow the manual, don't be like me. My grinder has a nice patina now, it works fine, it won't change the function, but the grade of aluminum absolutely does not like the dishwasher. The manual said as much.

summer sausage was the best ever
We've had a ton of different meat grinders, we make a lot of venison summer sausage. If you are not familiar with using venison, it's not easy to get the consistency just right and the casings filled JUST so, this was a breeze. For a large summer roll, it took 2 of us to run, but they came out better than anything we've ever tried before. The meat was perfectly ground and the tubing system was a breeze. Id had my KitchenAid for almost 2 decades and have no idea why I didnt just go with this sooner.
