This has been a useful tool for not only tenderizing or preparing meat for marinade, but also for making small openings in paneer so that it can be marinated in curry for spinach alloo panack with paneer. It is easier than using a small fork or knife as it makes uniform holes in numbers, saving time and effort. The sharp points retract for safety, which I also appreciate. The tenderizer of this type I had before had to be replaced into a cover for safety, this covers the points with each depression.
This meat tenderizer does its job well, meat comes out much more tender and juicy after using it. However, I found the handle to be a little uncomfortable for extended use. I wish it had a more ergonomic design for a better grip. Still, it’s efficient, easy to clean, and makes a real difference in the cooking process.
Width: 4.125 inchesHeight: 5 inchesDepth: 1 inchBlades width: 2.25 inchesThis is the best tool to turn cheap steaks into the best possible steak you can get, probably close to dry age if you do what I do.What I do is use this physical meat tenderizer with meat tenderizer salt (mainly bromelain), throw it in the fridge for 5 hours and then wash off the tenderizer salt. Dry it off and re-salt it with regular salt, then fridge it overnight. The next day, I take it out an hour before cooking to let the steak come to temp, and then inject beef tallow into it. Sear it in cast iron pan until cooked to the proper temp. Then I made a pan sauce. It was SO EXTREMELY DELICIOUS! It turned my $7/lb steak (a London broil from my local supermarket) into a restaurant level steak. The beef tallow not only added the juiciness, but also added that dry age beefiness that takes this to the next level.Yes, it is a lot of work, but I'm saving probably $60 - $80 for a dry age steak from a high end supermarket. If you simply use this tool alone, I'm 100% sure it will make a cheap steak significantly more tender. The tenderizing powder tells you to use a fork, so this is really a 1-2 combination. I wash off the tenderizing powder because I know for a fact that it adds a bitter flavor. But this physical tenderizer is more than 10x more efficient than a fork. It was so easy to use that I tenderized the whole steak, including the sides, in less than 2 minutes. It was also relatively easy to clean as I just use a pipe cleaner to get to the sides.I'm so happy I got this. It totally unlocked a cheat code in terms of cooking really cheap steaks. I have tried many different things for many years (including putting steaks in a ultrasonic jewelry cleaner). I can't believe it is a physical tool as simple as this that did the trick. If steaks was actually healthy, I would be using this tool at least once a week.
The last tenderizer I used only had one row of pins and was hard to push through smaller cuts of meat. This one has more than one row of pins which allowed us to cover more ground with each punch. The guard is strong enough not to accidently cut yourself when handling but not so strong that you need to "smash" the meat before the needles engage. We have used this for sirloin steak before marinading as well as chicken and turkey. For cleaning, we like to soak it in some warm soapy water and any meat remnants will fall right off of it. Using this tenderizer helped us earn an award at a local turkey smoke competition which is something we won't forget!!
This meat tenderizer with 48 ultra-sharp needle blades is such a handy kitchen tool! It’s sturdy, easy to hold, and makes a noticeable difference in how juicy and tender the meat turns out. Cleaning is straightforward too, which is a big plus for me. Whether it's steak, chicken, or pork, it helps marinades soak in better and cooks more evenly. It feels like one of those little upgrades that seriously level up your meals without much extra effort.
