Great attachment to tenderize a piece of chicken or beef! Works great on venison!
I would love to have given this 5 stars, but there are several issues. First, it is NOT adjustable. So, the tenderizer, although well made (the metal parts) will perforate nearly all the way though a piece of meat, with only about 1/8" not perforated. That will be okay for making a few things, like chicken fried steak and maybe tenderloins for sandwiches. But putting an expensive steak though it? MAYBE a New York strip that is thin already. The metal gears (comes with two spare gears and a plastic cleaning brush) are rugged and put together well, but they are housed in a cheap removeable plastic case. I was afraid I was going to break the plastic case when taking the lid off. The case really isn't needed anyway and will probably get tossed in the trash. I read in another review that theirs was adjustable, well this one is NOT. I would say the thickest piece of meat that can go through would be no more than 1" thick, and that's pushing it. A 1" piece will come out tenderized alright, but only be held together with about a 1/8" solid piece of meat. That is nearly shredded in my opinion. Great idea, but it needs to be adjustable so the meat is not so mangled. $50 for some chicken fried steaks (which the breast would have to be pounded before putting it through anyway) or maybe some thin slices of beef tenderloin? Not for me.
seems to work good only used it one time
It takes a fairly thin piece of meat to go through this tenderizer.
Works beautifully! Great value for the money. Cubes steak to a perfect thickness. We use it for chicken breast as well, it also work perfectly. So easy to use. Easy to clean as well. Made of all stainless steel! Highly recommend!
Pulled out the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer and gave this a whirl on tonight's pork chops, they were not a full 1" thick, better than 1/2" thick however and boneless. Really worked, they are marinating in some mustard, garlic, Worcestershire sauce & brown sugar currently. They are soaking up the marinade well. They were not shredded as some of these mechanical tenderizers are inclined to do, the chops were only perforated and rolled through the device, which results in tenderized not mangled cuts of meat. What I like about this mechanical tenderizer is, that unlike some of the others on the market, it is enclosed in a housing that protects fingers and hands while guiding the meat through the rollers.Easy attach to the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer, easy to operate (used level 4 setting) and cleaned up (by hand) thoroughly & painlessly (yes the gears are metal), a breeze to disassemble and reassemble. I will now have to leave the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer out for easy operation with this attachment, it will be used often. Recommended.
This meat tenderizer attachment is seriously beefy in its build and performance. It hooks right up to the KitchenAid with no fuss, and my wife loves that it comes fully apart for easy cleaning—huge plus!Just a heads-up: it’s not meant for thick cuts since larger pieces won’t fit in the top slot. But if your meat is less than 4 inches, this thing works like a charm. Great for prepping your meat of choice—quick, consistent results every time.Solid upgrade if you’re looking to make tough cuts more tender without a mess.
