This is so helpful
At the age of 60 I’ve found myself learning to cook. Don’t get me wrong. I used to cook but I was never real good at it. I had a few things I made that were okay but for the most part my cooking always seemed boring and bland. I never enjoyed it.In the earl years of my marriage I did most of the cooking. I’m ADD. When ai cooked I was disorganized. I didn’t know how to reply season food.?I never knew how to tell when meat as done. Almost everything I made was well done. In the late 90’s I started to have chronic pain. It was miserable and my husband took over the cooking. He was a very good cook. He was methodical and organized and I afraid to try new things. That said even he had a hard time telling when me at T was done.March of this year he passed away unexpeectedly at the age of 64. I found myself in a position of having to fend for myself and if I wanted to eat anything tasty it was time for me to learn. The first time I used this thermometer it saved me from having to eat pork as tough as shoe leather. I had some thick cut center cut pork chops and I had a couple smaller ones as well. When I put the thermometer in the pork I thought only the thinner chops would be done. I was wrong and thanks to this tool I realized my oven runs hot.The next time I used it I roasted a chicken. I decided to try Spatchcocking. It was the first time I’d ever cut up a chicken. The bird was about 71/2 pounds to start and foolishly I based my cooking time on that weight. However by the time I removed the back bone and the leg and wing sections the chicken was a lot lighter. I knew it would cook a little quiver because of being laid out flat. I also expected the wings, thighs and legs to cook faster than the breast. When I used c my thermometer about 45 minutes into cooking I was thankful as heck to have had this termometer because that chick was done. Delicious and juicy too. Anyone who is new to cooking or unsure how done things are I can tell you this is very handy to have. It is fast too. I thought I needed to get a battery for it when it came but there was one already in it. I highly recommend this. Obviously I’m not a expert but this has helped me gain a little confidence and now I enjoy cooking.
