This is a review of MEION 53.3mm Espresso Puck Screen-3 Pack 0.8mm.I have been using this puck screen for about a month now, interchangeably with its 0.2mm version.Just like its thinner version the build quality is great, the surface feels smooth with no rough edges, and easy to clean. The material seems durable and pretty sturdy. Given a bit more thickness compared to the 0.2mm version, this one pretty much does not flex.It fits well in the stock Breville double basket, or the Capfei 54mm 18mm basket that I also use it with.Compared to the 0.2mm version, it has an additional "bottom" pattern, but I've not noticed any significant difference in performance. The added thickness gives it a nicer feel, but that's about it from what I could tell.
These screens fit my 51mm portafilter perfectly and do a great job at evenly distributing the water. The quality is very sturdy and durable, the image on it is cute. The only reason this is 4 and not 5 stars is because I have another screen that works just as well, but it is magnetic and can be lifted out easily. The magnet does not work on these ones, so you have to try to not lose the screen when dumping the grinds. But this is only a small nitpick.
these puck screens have been amazing and a game changer for my coffee. I can definitely taste the difference in my coffee being a little bit more strained, but they also play an important part in keeping my filter, clean from the coffee beans and my machine touching. recently, my machine was getting a bit dirty on top and it wasn’t because I was using a puck screen, but just how thin the puck screen I was using wasn’t really helping. These ones have been working amazing they are made of a really nice quality stainless steel. They fit my filter really well and there’s no room for wiggle. They’re super easy to use right out of the box and they come with these little bear decals engraved onto the screen, which I think is amazing. they are super light and don’t really carry any weight. I definitely think they’re a good value for your money if it’s something that you’re looking for because it will definitely maximize your coffee hobby!
When I saw this two pack of puck screens, I snatched it up. I chose my De’Longhi Stilosa espresso machine before I knew more about portafilters, puck screens, and tampers. I did not know that the 51mm size of my espresso machine’s portafilter would make it more difficult to find accessories to fit it. They were priced right too, so it made it an even easier choice. The puck screens are a nice weight and thickness, and are two sided. The face side has smaller holes and the back side has bigger holes. They are easy to use. When you’re making your coffee, you place the puck screen face up on top of the tamped down coffee grounds and use your espresso machine as normal. The puck screen fit into my portafilter with no issue.
Works great. About a year ago I started using this type of screen and found it made the espresso smoother and creamier. I tested out several types of screens in various levels of thickness and design and this kind, with the bigger holes on one side, always came out as the best. This is the perfect thickness I've found for a screen too, thick enough to be durable and not bend. It fits my 51mm DeLonghi portafilter perfectly and is so easy to use. Just add your grounds, tamp, and pop this on top. Great deal for two of them.
These fit my Breville Bambino+ portafilter perfectly. It's almost as if they were made for each other ;). I've used them both in the OEM portafilter as well s with a bottomless portafilter. It -seems- like I may get less channeling in the bottomless portafilter, but I'm still working on perfecting my tamping technique, so work in progress. The one thing it does absolutely for-sure is keep the grouphead cleaner. They're nicely constructed of stainless steel (as the ad copy says). I had one from another brand that was more of a mesh type material. These are much nicer.Recommended, particularly at this price point.
