This Bottomless Portafilter & Puck Screen set are fantastic! An excellent value for your espresso tool needs. This is built for functionality, with just the right angle & thickness! The ‘ Teddy Bear’ puck screen is fantastic to help avoid messy cleaning.
If you are willing to spend the time and effort this will require to dial in a shot without it spraying everywhere, this is a very good bottomless portafilter. It fits my Breville Barista Touch with no issues and weighs about 16 grams more than the stock portafilter.That said, you will need to adjust the way you grind, distribute, and tamp to get the best results out of this portafilter. I needed to use a more fine grind and had to lower the height on both my distributor and tamp compared to the settings I use with the stock portafilter on my machine.While product photos show the included puck screen being inserted with the image facing up, I've found that it should face down instead, as it is the flat side to place on top of grounds. I originally tried it the way as shown in product photos, and that was not a fun mess to clean up... I should've expected it would need to be flipped based on my experiences with a puck screen from another manufacturer.That said, while this does fit my machine without issue, the portafilter is slightly too thick to fit my existing tamp stations, while the basket is slightly too small for my spring-loaded tamp to fit without issue; the tamp that comes with my machine fit fine, but produces a more uneven tamp. I've also found the fit of the included puck screen to be very tight; the other one I own from another manufacture fits without any issues. Grinds also tend to take a few extra whacks on the knockbox to get them to come out, which can loosen the handle in the process.Overall, this is a very good portafilter that I would recommend to anyone willing to experiment more with brewing espresso. This is not for someone who is new to making espresso.
Not sure I’m seeing big difference in quality of espresso from portafilter than what came with Breville. It is good quality though.

Years ago after retiring, I worked as a barista and fell in love with coffee. I've had a number of the automatic type espresso machines. I wanted a better machine that I could afford and one that my wife would work, so I bought a Breville Barista Express Impress. Over the last 3 plus years using the machine, I have been slowly been getting pieces to improve my game. I started roasting my own beans 2 years ago. I've watched people claiming the bottomless Portafilter really upped their quality. I continued to hold off. I have bought a great grinder, distribution tools, a different basket, puck screens, but now I have the final piece, a Meion Bottomless Portafilter. I was skeptical, but had to give it a go. Boy was I glad I did. My first shot pulled, spewed all over and I wondered what I did wrong. I adjusted my grind, used 18 grams of coffee and voila. It pulled a beautiful shot from my fresh roasted beans with loads of crema. It hasn't thrown any bad shots since the very first. There is definitely an improved taste, although good before, but now even better. The whole Portafilter seem a high quality to me, from its heavy build, smooth finishing and even the included puck screen, which is heavier and much nicer than the other screens that I own. The great thing about this Portafilter is that you can tell much more what is going on with your shots so that you make adjustments to your grind or your dosing amount. At this point, I can now concentrate on my choice of raw beans from all over the world and the varies roast levels to get the best flavors through my new bottomless Portafilter from Meion. If you are serious about upping your coffee experience give this Meion Bottomless Portafilter a try. It's a great price and well worth it in my opinion.
So far this has been a great item of good build quality that's produced solid pulls of espresso with a breville barista express. This style of portafilter demands the use of a wire separator tool, in which case you should also want a dosing funnel too. I've noticed after tamping that a small layer of grounds stays fixed to the bottom of the portafilter basket, which doesn't seem to be a problem with my breville portafilter baskets. In any case, the heft and feel of this item is way more premium than the stock breville portafilter.
