This is such a simple device and solution but it works Perfectly.Dosing my portafilter without a dosing funnel seems to always make a mess no matter how careful I am.This Meion 54mm Dosing Funnel attaches to the Breville portafilter with magnets strong enough to keep the ring in place but not so tight as to make it a hassle removing. The magnets and machined lip hold it in place securely but also allow for easy and smooth removal. Just lift and off it comes.I find that it is perfect for timed dispensing from my grinder. I use this dosing funnel in conjuction with my MEION Calibrated Dual Spring Espresso Tamper 53.3mm which allow me to tamp my grounds without any further mess.

Improves upon a simple design
This meion dosing ring is simple, but has seemed to figured out the dosing ring better than any others I’ve tried!-The magnetism is splendid, as seen in my video you just drop it on and it’s staying. Wether you twist your portafilter upside down or just do an aggressive wdt, this meion ring will not budge.-The fit is PERFECT. It has a ring that sits just over the inside edge of your portafilter basket, this creates a near seamless seal! No more grinds spilling out or building up on the edge of your basket while you wdt. There is no play in any direction, I use a VST basket and the fit is spot on.-Nice solid metal ring, has some good weight to it, comes in the same black color other brands are using so you can match your gear. For the price, I don’t think you can do better.-I’ve used the normcore v2 ring and it’s significantly lighter, has some side to side play, and ultimately allowed some grinds to seep between the ring and out onto the edge of my basket. For this price and it’s feature set, the meion blows it out of the water and is an amazing value.

This funnel does exactly what you would want. Keeps coffee from overflowing, magnets are good and keep overflow from seeping between the cracks. If you use a fancy WDT you may not be able to with the funnel attached but you can tap the portafilter with the funnel on and not worry about it coming loose. Good purchase.

It's a dosing funnel, but you can't use the tamper to tamp while it's on the portafilter
The weight and feel of this is fine and the magnets work...but the purpose of a dosing funnel is to help me get all the grounds into the portafilter. You cannot use a Breville tamper to tamp a Breville portafilter while this dosing funnel is on top of it. If you remove the dosing funnel before tamping, grounds will fall.There's no way to easily use this tool to get your grounds in the portafilter and tamp the portafilter without a mess. If it had been designed to allow the tamper to fit, it'd be a great product, but that's not how it was designed. It's a single purpose tool that is bad at the purpose it was created for.Edit: Just an update to provide more detail. I do use a WDT tool, and that does help get the grounds in the portafilter and get them as settled and flat as I can. With lighter roasts, you can get everything in the portafilter so you can remove the funnel without concern. With darker roasts, you end up with a balancing act after WDT where if you're lucky, you can remove the funnel and tamp with minimal mess and an even puck.I'd much rather have a dosing funnel/ring that the tamper fit in.7/4/24 EDIT 2: After upgrading to a DF83V grinder, the same amount of coffee, with the same extraction time, fits better in the portafilter than the Baratza Encore or the Breville Barista Pro grinder grinding the same amount of coffee. With care you can tap the grinds level and then you can tamp down without making a mess most of the time.I do continue to use it multiple times everyday, and it does work for the specific work flow I have now, but it is not mess free and it would not work well with the Breville grinder and Breville tamper.I also no longer WDT, as my new grinder doesn't need it the way my Breville and Baratza did, which helps.Depending on your work flow, this may work well for you, and I'm bumping it up a star as it does work for me...but I can't give it a higher rating because it it has too many caveats to highly recommend.
