Beautiful, lightweight and durable bowls!
These bowls are really pretty! You can’t really tell they are melamine until you touch them. They are like a double or triple weight melamine unlike those thin, cheap things we all grew up with (brand name begins with “C”!) They can indeed go in the bottom rack of the dishwasher and the microwave, contrary to the instructions that come with them! I have had them in the microwave for up to 3 minutes on high (1000 watt microwave) and normal settings on dishwasher (not the heavy duty pots and pans or extra hot settings). I have literally done microwave and dishwasher for years with other triple-weight melamine dishes I have with no adverse effects. (They do get pretty hot straight out of microwave, so use a potholder!) So have no fears of throwing them in, just like all your other dishes! I absolutely love these melamine pasta bowls! Just the right amount of room for a big bowl of pasta! Best of all, no worries of breakage!

So glad I found these! Perfect melamine bowls!!
After searching for days to find the best deep melamine bowls, I ordered these and am so happy that I did. They are perfect. So pretty with gorgeous, vibrant blues and greens, and a handsome design. They are pretty thick and have a good weight to them for being melamine, they are very sturdy and I'm sure will last a long time. I just ordered another set because we use deep dishes often. These are a great size, too.. plenty big for lunch and dinner meals.

Feel Like Plastic
So I've checked out a variety of "alternative material" dishware as I have an elderly mother that is capable if breaking anything just by looking at it. So when I was buying a new dish set, I thought melamine after having experienced a friend's set. These literally feel like heavy duty nice plastic dishes. I don't mind them, theyre very pretty, they definitely don't break and they are easy to clean up/don't damage easily if at all. I specifically was going with melamine because most of the dishes I have checked out feel more like dishes (if that makes sense) as my mother didnt want to feel "any type of way" since eliminating dishes because of her. So I got these due to the colors. The colors are exactly as pictured. I have the whole dang set. Never returned them, but did buy an alternative set as well that feels like melamine and not plastic. Cute for plastic outdoor nice dishware though.

These WILL break in the microwave
Don’t be foolish like me and think these dishes can be used in the microwave just because another reviewer said there’s no problem in doing so.Even though I have not been using them in the microwave, I did accidentally forget one night and heated some leftovers in one of these dishes for just a minute or so. While they were heating, I heard a loud pop, but mistakenly thought it was the plastic wrap I had over the top. Therefore, I didn’t check the bottom of the dish afterwards. But tonight, after heating some food in a microwave safe container and then transferring the food into this melamine dish, I immediately heard a loud pop again!That’s when I realized the pop must be the dish because this time there was no plastic wrap and it wasn’t in the microwave. And sure enough the bottom of the dish is cracked open. I checked the bottom of my other dishes from the set and none of them are cracked, so I have to assume that this particular dish is the one that popped the first time. And now just the act of putting hot food into it made it pop more.I just wanted to point this out because if my dish would’ve split all the way in half I would’ve had a potentially dangerous burn situation due to the heated sauce in my food, and it would’ve been my own fault. So please heed the instructions printed on each dish and do not microwave!

These bowls are beautiful!
I happen to be a potter and was looking for something light and durable and authentic like some real pottery and I came across these. We have grandchildren and I wanted something unbreakable. The pictures don’t do them justice. The other night we cooked out and used them for salads and my friends asked if I made them!
