These dome lids work perfectly for melting cheese in a skillet or on a flat top grill - just like on the line in a diner or lunch counter. They are lightweight but are sturdy enough to do their intended job without being overly clumsy. They are easy to clean by hand washing but did not seem to be adversely impacted when I put them in the dishwasher (top rack).
My favorite way to eat eggs is sunny side up, but it’s so hard to get the whites on the top cooked without overcooking the yolks. In a skillet I cover them, which helps, but then you have to try to get the eggs out of the skillet without busting the yolks open. When I got a small flat top, I thought that would solve my problems. Adding these dome lids made the set-up complete. I love the size of these domes. Not too big. My flat top isn’t large, so I have limited space to work with. This 9” dome is perfect. In my photo, you can see how nicely the egg to the right cooked on top. The one on the back left was too close to the edge of the griddle, which doesn’t heat as well, so that’s user error on my part. The handles on the dome went on easily. They are a nice size, making them easy to grip, and are made out of a material that doesn’t conduct heat. Under and around the handle there is a square of this material to protect your fingers and knuckles from touching the hot metal of the dome when lifting and especially tipping it to the side. The stainless steel is good quality without any pitting. In addition to eggs, this works well for melting cheese on burgers. This is a good price for two great quality cooking domes.

These are nice steaming lids. I like the handle and they feel sturdy. These are great for finishing up your cooks without burning the outside and not having the inside done still. Only issue on these is they are small. 9 inch sounded like it was going to do the trick but they are smaller then I anticipated.

What more can I say than that it works? Well…it looks more interesting than your standard round dome. It comes in a 2 piece set and there is minimal set-up. You’ll need a small screwdriver to remove the initial screw. Once off, you can basically set everything up by hand. Tried this with a sunny side up egg which generally tends to leave the slimy egg white part on top. As you can see in the pic, no slime. Recommend!!
