This Mercer Culinary Millennia bread knife is excellent! The 9-inch offset wavy edge slices through bread effortlessly without crushing the loaf, giving clean, even slices every time. The handle is comfortable and provides a secure grip, making it easy to use even for large batches of baking. The quality feels professional, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite kitchen knives. Great value for such a reliable tool!
This knife has been perfect for my homemade sourdough, which always has a much harder, crisper crust than store-bought bread. The offset handle design makes it so much easier to slice through a round, boule-shaped loaf without having to angle the knife because your hand is too close to the cutting board..It’s sharp, sturdy, and feels well-made — exactly what I needed for clean, even slices without crushing the bread. Overall, a great quality knife that does its job beautifully.
I adore this bread knife. It is lightweight and has a nice grip, allowing me to slice through a freshly cooled load of bread effortlessly, slicing perfectly thin slices every time. I’m really happy with my investment! No sign of rust after many months of use. I can tell it will last many years of use. Worth every penny.
Great knife for the money. Blade is thin and flexible, handle is large and easy to hold. Easy to clean and the blade seems to hold the edge well. I use this for slicing bread and sandwiches, and after about a year of use I cannot complain for the price. I highly prefer the offset edge for bread and sandwich slicing, so this gets even more use than my straight zwilling bread knife that cost many times more.
Needed a new bread knife after I proved my sourdough hobby was going to stick. This was recommended by a YouTube video on sourdough and it is amazing on fresh bread, stale bread, rock-hard bread. But BE CAREFUL - it is so so sharp and even though we knew that, it was laying under a pile of groceries on the counter and a family member unknowingly grabbed it underneath and took a trip to the emergency room. You can totally cut your finger off. Probably would be nice if this came with a sheath or protecting cover. Anyway, you probably need a new bread knife if you haven’t gotten one since your knife block was gifted to you a decade ago like me, and this is a good one.
This is a fantastic knife and cuts like a laser. Very impressive! I do have two minor criticisms of this knife however: 1) For my large hands, I find the handle to be a bit too small in diameter. The handle on my example seems smaller than those offered on Mercer's other bread knives. 2) I'd like to see the blade "slightly" thicker. It's perfect for bread, but it may be a little too flexible for cutting hard vegetables like butternut squash. Having said that, this knife cuts BETTER than my Victorinox Fibrox offset bread knife.
As previous purchasers have stated, this sandwich knife feels a bit thin and the blade is more flexible than I would prefer. However, it's cheap, extremly sharp and appears to be well made. I don't spread with in point in first, I rotate in 180 degrees and spread with the bullnose portion of the blade. Can't wait to cut some tomatoes with it...
