Effort Required But Worth It
This is a quality glass container and spigot. There are 3 difficulties: getting the excessively taped box open; washing the parts and heavy container without damaging the glass; assembling the spigot with no directions. The following is the method I used.1. First, wash and dry everything.2. For the spigot you should havereceived:2 white silicone washers1 threaded metal nut2 polished silver metal flanges1 white silicone 1/2" strainer1 yellow plastic wing nut3. Consider the tube part of thespigot to have an exterior (closestto handle) portion and an interiorportion at opposite end.1. First slide on a flange with theconvex side facing the handle.2. Next slide on a silicone washer.3. Install spigot through openingin glass container.4. Working with one hand insidecontainer and one on outsideof spigot, add silicone washer.5. Conclude with a flange, convex side facing towardcenter of container.6. I believe the strainer whichgoes on the end is optional.Surely it is not needed forwater. May be needed foriced tea, and probablynecessary for liquids withpulp, seeds, etc. to avoidclogging the spigot. At this point I finally figured out the purpose of yellow wing nut. Use it to do the final tightening on the spigot assembly--just firm but not too tight. Remove and retain for future use.I didn't take pictures as I didn't know what I was doing. After it was assembled, I didn't feel like redoing my successful install. Maybe someone could add pix to their review as a few photos could replace my many words. The smart manufacturer or seller would add the spigot instructions to the package or website for those of us who need such guidance. This dispenser seems to be a quality product and should last many years, barring a mishap. Should the spigot fail, there are various styles available on Amazon which could serve as a replacement. And, they might come with directions.
