Will no longer use the metal tongs after the small pin from our last one’s popped out and into my spaghetti sauce! Lucky I saw it fall in or someone would have eaten it. None of the stores seemed to have better options, so gave these a try. These tongs are excellent and I will buy a second pair!
I have used this a couple times now taking hot bowls out of the microwave. I like that it’s metal, it doesn’t feel flimsy in my hand. The top handle has a strip of silicone down the length of it as a grip. The tip of one of the ends has a small strip of silicone to grip the edge of the bowl to help keep it from slipping. The other tip is just metal. Should both tips be made with the silicone to protect the bowl from the bare metal maybe marring it? I don’t know but so far, so good. No more burned fingers and I like that. Easy to use, comfortable in the hand, not bulky at all. Does its job and that’s the whole point.
I bought this set because the entire tong is covered in silicone, unlike the typical ones that only have partial coverage. That makes a big difference - especially with my gas stove, where handles can heat up fast.These stay cool and comfortable to use. It also comes with a metal clip for storage, which took a few tries to figure out, but now it works perfectly.After using it a couple of times, I’m really happy with the purchase. I even bought an extra set to gift to my family.
I love that they are silicone, but I wanted the flipper and tongs set, and they sent me a pair of tongs. Thus the 3 stars. Otherwise they are pretty good, and will be sturdy enough for use with the grill.
