Great substitute for when you need a spoon, spatula, and ladle

I make a lot of dishes where I find myself starting off with a spoon to stir and taste and switching to a ladle to serve. Or, I want something flat like spatula that I can scoop and scrape with. Mostly rice, beans, stews, curry, congee, even pancakes or scrambled eggs. These might be my new favorite cooking utensils. I've been using them every day for the last week (more the spatula one) and find it a lot simpler and less of a mess than having spoons and spatulas everywhere. The silicone and wood combo is by far my favorite to cook with—like my Staub utensils. They're rigid but the spatula has a flexible lip. They're non-stick, easy to clean, quick drying, and don't take up much space. These actually freed up some space in the jar. It's been a while since I've gotten excited over a new shaped tool and I'm super happy with how useful these are.

Nice cooking spoons

I make a lot of one dish meals and I prefer to use silicone tools on my nonstick pans. Often I have my rice cooker going and a pan on the stove, and these have been so useful. The rice spoon is fantastic, longer than the rice spoons provided with the cooker and comfortable in my hand.The long spoon is great for cooking meals in the pan then being able to dish them into bowls. It has a good holding capacity and works to clear food from the sides when cooking and serving.

OK but a bit of an oddity

These are easier to clean than wooden cooking utensils. The issue is going to be figuring out where you'll use them. The scoop spatula is pretty rigid, so I'm guessing it may have a metal core. It is a decent size for maneuvering things around a pan. However, it's not going to replace a good spatula. The tip is flexible, so it's going to be difficult to chop up more solid things into smaller pieces, and the curved end makes it hard to scoop up items, particularly if they're large and/or flat. And you're definitely not going to be able to scrape anything stuck to the bottom of the pan like you would with a steel spatula. The curve does work well for getting around the rounded edges of a skillet, though. Where I see myself using the spatula is for serving rather than cooking. It excels at wiping up sauce from around the pan. So think of it as a rubber spatula that you can use as a scoop for serving. As for the rice paddle, well, I guess that's mainly going to be useful for rice. It is a good large size and works well. The wooden handles are unfinished and perfectly round. This makes them somewhat uncomfortable to use compared to the flattened handle that you find on every other spatula, and not nearly as comfortable as a rubber handle. They come with S-hooks if you're into displaying your kitchen hardware. Other than the above, quality seems to be good.

The ridges on the rice spoon are intended to prevent rice from adhering to the spoon as you cook and serve - it works. The scoop spatula is good for cooking and serving meals like Stir Fry and Rice Pilaf.I like that the working ends of these utensils are made of silicone since all my pots and pans have a non-stick, toxic-free, ceramic coating which I want to keep free from scratches and scrapes. I would not put these utensils in an automatic dishwasher since the extreme heat and harsh detergents can run the wood handles. So far they have been easy to clean by hand with no issues.The price is reasonable compared to other similar products I've found online, but $14.99 still seems a bit much to me to pay for two cooking utensils. If they last 25+ years, however, then I will consider it worth while.Four stars for a good product that works as intended and as advertised.Note: if you don't want to spend money on a rice spoon, simply heat a tablespoon of oil in your rice pan, add rice and stir for one or two minutes, then add water and boil as usual. The oil will prevent the finished rice from sticking, and the one-minute "toasting" process gives it a nice hint of toasted flavor.
