Works as advertised ... but has limitations
WGPG Multipurpose Wood Cheese SlicerThis cheese slicer performs pretty much as expected. I ordered it with blocks of cheese of varying lengths but about 1 1/2 in x 1 1/2 inch at the ends in mind and with these it works very well. It also did quite well with modestly larger blocks of cheese as well as with beef logs and sausage logs. Since it has a blade cutter, it can handle tougher jobs than can a string cutter but when it cuts softer cheeses and meats, the blade tends to pull them down before it starts cutting. While that doesn't effect the taste, it is not as clean a slice as those of harder cheeses and meats. I've found that one can reduce this some by chilling the softer cheeses and meats prior to cutting. Rating it against the description on the product page, I give it 4 stars. Setting the above aside, my personal experience is that this device is not particularly practical. Regardless of what one is slicing, the blade has to be recocked and the food item advanced after each slice. If one is preparing a cheese tray with a combination of meats and cheeses, it takes considerably longer to cut them all up with this device than with a sharp knife and a cutting board. If one is using it for a slice-as-you-go snack, it does the job as long as one is using only one item ... but if one is using cheese and meat on each cracker, one is having to switch out items every cracker or so ... and for just a few, the cleanup, at least for me, isn't worth it. Which brings me to my final observation. When cutting with this device, food particles get carried by the blade down into the groove where they get compacted. I found that it takes a brush of some sort (I use a toothbrush) to ensure that the groove gets thoroughly cleaned out.

Great cutter but ...
This cuts great and the size is perfect but as others have said, the groove collects all kinds of bits of cheese and it's not easy to clean out. I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep this or not. I'll have to decide whether the great cutting outweighs the cheese build up in the groove.

This cheese cutter actually works very well. The blade does not bend or warp when cutting cheese. I have used a 1 pound block on it and it fits it fine. I’m thinking that it would probably cut a 2 pound block as well as long as you had the blade up high enough, you do not have to use a lot of pressure when you’re cutting with it so I really like this and you can slide your block in and out and make your slices as thinner as thick as you like. It definitely is easier than using a knife. And I think it’s more sturdy than the string cheese cutters because the little wire won’t break after a while. It has a nice sturdy base and you just have to lift the handle up and it hinges up and down to cut the cheese.

Good quality cheese board
This is a good quality cheese board for solid cheeses compared to wire-based cutters. With soft of crumbly cheeses, the blade does tend to make more surface contact however which can lead to it pulling down on the cheese more compared to a wire. So, there is a little bit of a tradeoff using a blade here. However, this does perform much better than my wire cutting board on solid cheeses and I have no concerns about having to replace the blade like I have with a wire. I have included a comparison picture of this board alongside a wire-based board.Cleaning is relatively easy as well. The included brush is able to get into the resting notch of the board where cheese will fall into if it breaks off while cutting. The wood finish is attractive as well as nice and smooth. The handle and blade are of a good quality and feel durable. There is also a metal catch at the end of the board that will hold the blade in position when fully closed so it does not swing out easily when the board is being stowed. There are also non-slip rubber feet underneath this board which work well in holding the board in place on smooth surfaces.Overall, this is a good product that works as described. I think the blade itself could be a little sharper, but otherwise pleased with how well it performs on cheddars and thick cheeses.

Perfect and convenient size
It’s the perfect size to fit in my knife drawer! My husband loves using it and it’s pretty easy to clean. It did go through the dishwasher once but I don’t recommend as it dried the wood out and needed to be re oiled
