Best "Pickins"

I provided catering for a community organization's fund raiser and had a limited budget. I needed some serving pieces that were low cost, attractive, and functional. I decided to give these a try. I have to say that I was both surprised and pleased with the quality of the pieces, functionality, and durability. In fact, whereas I thought they might be a one-time use, they will certainly last through a number of functions. Having pieces that coordinate and add some color that make them easily visible to guests (discourage fingers) helps make an attractive presentation that complements the food being served. These were better and less expensive than the varieties available locally through party supply and restaurant supply businesses, most of which were low quality plastic at twice or more the price.

I have purchased plastic tongs like this from a local craft store. Most of them broke within a year. When I went back to the store, the scoop style was no longer available, so I went looking online for something similar. While these were more expensive, the style was what I was looking for. I decided to give them a try. I was highly impressed! The plastic is thick and sturdy. I have a feeling these will last a while. The bonus is they are dishwasher safe! I use these kind of tongs often when I take salads to gatherings and I have a sectioned tray of different toppings or I will use the tongs for ice cream toppings (nuts, mini chocolate chips, Butterfinger bits, cherries, etc).

These little tongs are so handy. Actually our favorite ones to use over several other higher priced and well-known brand name utensils I have in the ever-growing utensil bucket. Super sturdy, flexible and wash up great in the dishwasher. If one gets damaged - it was so cheap - toss it!Update: 2/5/2020: Not as impressed as I was when they first were delivered. One has already snapped in half. We are finding they do not close securely on thinner items, so it is a struggle to flip things in the pan at times. For the price we can't fuss too much but heads up on buying these if you are looking for a snug grab. You won't get one.
